Yes, according to some. The moment he decided to retire we lost that recruitment
-
We likely get Emeka, JTT, Franklin, and Kellen Moore as OC if Petersen stayed. Also Gregory and Boner gone
-
But Pete did lose the fire so the program would still be shiet
-
No
We still quit last year and he's a quitter before that
Quitters never win. Winners never quit -
no clue but itll be special when we? merge (get acquired?) by the B1G and have to play against JTT and Emeka.
just think of the fox pregame show now 'two seattle kids heading home to play against the hometown dawgs!'
not a dry eye in the house as we? lose by over 9000. -
Agree, never giving up cocaineRaceBannon said:No

Agree except on Moore. We weren't outpaying the Cowboys in any situation.bananasnblondes said:We likely get Emeka, JTT, Franklin, and Kellen Moore as OC if Petersen stayed. Also Gregory and Boner gone

Coming off of 8 - 5, PAC quitting last year, and the overall outlook of the conference, I'm gonna say NO.
And Moore was never going to leave Dallas. He's the next head coach as long as they put up points. -
@stalin where is the poll?!
-
If Pete were still coach
The pandemic is a hard thing to navigate as a coach. I'm not sure if what we are doing is that important
It's hard to recruit in a pandemic. I'm not sure if what we are doing is that important
Expanding the playoffs is hard. I'm not sure if that type of win at all costs mentality is right
College football realignment is hard. I'm not sure we want to go there -
You guys talk about 8-5 like its 5-8 or worse. They still closed a good recruiting class that year. Stsffs that recruit well do so after bad years too. Oregon just went through a couple of bad years but Taggart and meat head both brought in good classes in the midst of it.BleachedAnusDawg said:Coming off of 8 - 5, PAC quitting last year, and the overall outlook of the conference, I'm gonna say NO.

The perception outside of this place was that UW had a down year but it was just that, not a disaster. Then Petersen left, then Lake made boring hires, then recruiting went to shit.
So...maybe. I think UW probably gets JTT and Egbuka if Petersen hadn't quit. -
If Lake goes 8 and 5 everyone will want him fired
-
8 and 5 is Aloha Bowl status, if that game still exists. Wholly unacceptable.

jerry does like taking mediocre OCs and making them HCs, he likes that.BleachedAnusDawg said:Coming off of 8 - 5, PAC quitting last year, and the overall outlook of the conference, I'm gonna say NO.

i do think lincoln riley might get a call when he realizes he cant waltz thru the sec like hid in the b12. -
Yes, but that's beside the point. I'm not evaluating or comparing them or talking about what's fair. I'm just saying that the effect of 8-5 on recruiting would have been pretty minimal if nothing else had changed.RaceBannon said:If Lake goes 8 and 5 everyone will want him fired

I agree on that point but the world stopped soon after Pete departedchuck said:

Would the continuity have helped if Petersen had stayed? Yes
Would the damage of the not playing rep the north ducks DAWGS against playoff bound tOSU hurt still? Yes
And this is a hypothetical and we don't do them -

Hey speak for yourself. -
Oh sweet irony. -

I've wondered if Petersen sensing Emeka and JT being lost to Ohio State with almost no chance to change their minds was one of the reasons he decided to quit. The story about Emeka wearing Ohio State gloves with Petersen went to watch him play part of that.
I assume he would have gotten neither.
Wasn't there strong rumors that like two Junes ago JT had committed or was going to commit to UW?
Oddly I think he had a better chance at JT than Emeka somehow. -
Petersen was a good closer. UW won most ecruiting battles that went down to the wire under him, including those against the likes of tOSU. I think those two recruits and the effort it was going to take to get them could've been one factor in him quitting. He didn't want to have to work that hard.WoolleyDoog said:I've wondered if Petersen sensing Emeka and JT being lost to Ohio State with almost no chance to change their minds was one of the reasons he decided to quit. It's obvious what happened with Petersen. He didn't want to live at the office, fire undeperforming assistants, retool a floundering offense, and especially not continue the ass kissing to unlikable 16-17 year old kids.
It's OK to recognize his reasons for quitting and still hate him for it. Facts are facts. Rolling over in the bowl games is on him. 8-5 with losses to the likes of Colorado is on him. Whatever he did good is obscured by all of that and it's justifiable. It should be possible to talk about other aspects of his time at UW without rehashing those facts which are already well established though. -
We would have had a better chance. I think probably not tho.
