I wish Paul were a serious possibility. If only he had experience as a prosecutor he’d be AG choice #1. For DeSantis.

    Exactly

Unless you're Rand Paul it's not a GOP primary issue. Trump kept Fauci. Ron listened to him

DeSantis v Newsom makes the length of the lockdown a good issue

Trump listened to Fauci. Start there.
Trump listened to his advisors that bucking Fow Chee was a loser in 2020. Trump's instincts about the lockdown were spot on but firing Fow Chee he would have been crucified by the press, even more so than he was. Every dead body would then be his watch. They tried to pin it on him anyway, but we were locked down per Fauci and the blue state governors. The public wasn't fighting the vaxx mandates and lockdowns in November of 2020.

The other problem for the GOP is that Newsom Inslee and Whitmer were the worst and won big re-election

Is it really an issue? JW and mello miss masks

    As did Lockdown Ron

Claiming he would have fired Fauci requires a citation

I wanted Fauci fired and no lockdowns and the proof is on this board

Most of the GOP listened to Fauci

    Rand Paul 2024
Rand would be even more hated by the uniparty than Trump. As much as they hated Trump, at least he spent.

I voted twice for his daddy for the record.

Trump thought he could trust a proven rat like Comey. This is about which guy will make wise appointments. And who will advise them.

We already know that Trump will make crap appointments. And given his track record, who in the hell would want to serve in a Trump Admin?

Firing Foo Chee would have been bad press sure. It would have negated all the good press Trump was receiving. He should have followed his instincts and fired his ass with a proven replacement ready to go. It was easier to bitch about Foo Chee and do nothing.

Trump also listened to his advisers when he hired Wray. The point was about advisers to DeSantis. Trump's record on advisers isn't very good. They also told him that Barr would be a great AG. At least DeSantis knows where the bodies are buried in DC. Trump didn't.

Frankly, I'm tired of having a candidate where I even need to talk about hush money for porn stars. Tired of the drama. Too much energy is spent on shit that doesn't matter with Trump, and most of that shit he brings upon himself. He isn't very effective at defending himself, and he can't stay on message because we're always talking about crap like this.

It's enough that DeSantis would be the most reviled man on earth every single day of his presidency. Handing the corrupt media additional fodder gives them the ability to continue the pile on. At some point w/o that, more people would catch on that the media really is corrupt. CNN is finding out right now. They're in big trouble ratings wise and their new President seems to be a captive on a sinking ship.

    Disagree.

GOP wins if the focus is on what's wrong with this country and how we got here. It has happened before. Reagan, Bush 2.0, Trump.
The right candidate will be able to articulate that. The wrong candidate will want to rehash 2020 and the focus will be on just that.

We'll table this so we don't have the same argument for the next year

You're right about Trump. But DeSantis has already given them plenty to work with

The problem is America has changed. They savaged Reagan. Didn't work

I'm not optimistic about any GOP winning at this point

Yeah, but to trash DeSantis they have to lie. "Don't say gay bill" Banned books that talked about slavery. Those are easily and quickly refuted and the more you talk about them the better it is for RD because the public can see that the Rats and the press are lying. Grab them by the pussy and paying porn stars for their silence are distraction that are true. We spend time and energy talking about them and it doesn't help anyone but the left.

Every minute not focused on Americans and the sad shape this country is in and who caused it, is wasted. Make no mistake the media desperately wants Trump back.

Because the GOP today is the only place for those who aren't brain dead or hard leftists, the party itself has changed. DeSantis has the conservatives but Trump has by far the largest base inside the GOP. Made up of all sorts of malcontents like myself who have never really been what is traditionally considered a conservative. Then there is the Never Trump er Never DeSantis wing. If DeSantis can navigate that he might have a shot but its not like the campaign is going to be on his issues. It will be a steady stream of lies and the housewives will buy it. Yes he is better at defending himself and his issues but the narrative isn't interested

Democrats know that their issues suck so the playbook of destroy your opponent is what they have. Social media allowing individual voters to be targeted and shamed into voting a certain way also matters. Most people are weak minded and want to be part of the crowd and the left owns that territory

I'll vote for a ham sandwich. DeSantis isn't a problem for me. I'm just not optimistic at all

It's not Trump it's his ideas despite his personal failings. In 2016 those ideas won and the left and the establishment went into a panic that we still see today

Can DeSantis win on those issues? Hope so. Pretty good chance he does go Bushie though and try to win that way

    We'll see

I think he is smart enough to know that Bushie won't win it for him. He certainly didn't run a Bushie Gov. race. Trump without all the fucking drama. Yeah I like Trump's policies ideas too, but if you're too undisciplined to be able to enact any of them beyond EOs and you're appointing people like Ray and Bolton what's the fucking point? And lets me honest, Trump's business and personal dealings are often pretty fucking sleazy. You take Biden's corruption and lying like a rug off the table if you run Trump.

I would never, ever occur to this asshole that every income earner in this nation pays too much in taxes, government is way too large, too incompetent, too scandalous, frequently unconstitutional, and certainly malevolent.

It's never "you should pay less." Instead it's always "somebody else needs to pay more, to make things fair." Wasteful assholes.

Except that almost half of American adults pay no income tax.

I can't believe that some of you think the state we are in is the D's fault. The deep state R's are all goose stepping right along with the D's. Nothing will change until a strong good third party reveals itself.

Until then it's "follow the yellow brick road" - all pocketing as much money on the government tit as possible on the every day guys dollar. Vote independents, no D or R required. Just takes another 54% of the population to do it. That gets added to the 1% that vote anti-deep-staters
