Voting for, or supporting, the current Republican shitshow/party is morally indefensible but it doesn't disqualify one from providing input on a semi-neutral forum.

Sure. What ever makes you, and the members of the immoral minority, feel better.
Where, oh where, did the America loving Republican party go?

Please to be explaining the morality of lighting the federal courthouse in Portland on fire with people inside? #yourteam #antifa

The fact that Biden and Ike are ideological bedfellows tells you how far to the right both parties have drifted on the political spectrum over the decades

The sheer stupidity of that last statement on so many levels is amazing...

I don't seem to recall Ike pushing for multi-trillion dollar social spending and Trannies serving in the military, or open borders. Got a link?
July is scorching in Mexicali. The Mexican city just across the border from Calexico, California, averages 108 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer, but temperatures often swell into the 120s.
In 1955, thousands of disoriented people roamed the city’s streets as the sun bore down on them. They had just been dumped there by American immigration officials—snatched from their lives and jobs in the United States and thrown into a city where they didn’t know anyone.
These Mexican immigrants had been caught in the snare of Operation Wetback, the biggest mass deportation of undocumented workers in United States history. As many as 1.3 million people may have been swept up in the Eisenhower-era campaign with a racist name, which was designed to root out undocumented Mexicans from American society.

Even adjusting for some degree of "update" to their outlook should they have lived during our tims, it's hard to imagine a military man like Ike from that era sharing much in common with most politicians today. The gender stuff would be entirely over his head. Immigration is maybe the one constant - it's a rather black/white issue.

Spending and the proper role of government seems to me to also be a constant. Agree with you on social issues. Hell, I don't have the same views on many social issues that I had in the 90s. But claiming Biden is a centrist Democrat and an ideological bedfellow of Ike's is fact free nonsense based on nothing more than someone's feelings and their very shitty understanding of US history.

Yep on spending and size of government. I wonder how he'd have dealt with Corona. A wartime guy like that certainly had to have made room in his brain for exceptions to civil liberties. Would he have viewed anything other than actual, physical war as warranting an infringement on individual autonomy and freedom? IDK. From the great distance from where I am, the people of that era did seem to have an ability to take a "collectivist" (dirty word, IK) approach to things if it be in the national interest. I may be wrong about that, and things may be idealized at this point, but we did seem to come together as country very well in the war effort, even though our involvement in the war, in the beginning at least, was open for debate.
