The cost of litigation and fines will more than likely be less than the amount they would have lost had GameStop continued it's climb. Prison and the confiscation of their assets is the only option that could truly penalize them.
This isn't Biden's America. This shit show has been going on since the creation. The problem we deal with now, is that by removing options, which will happen, you will have lower volatility, but probably less money in the market. These investors will find other ways to make money, so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a temporary dip in the market.

Tough to overbuild in the Portland area. Inside the urban growth boundary, residential housing is largely built out. Builders are building million dollar homes on very small lots in Lake Oswego and West Linn. This isn't Phoenix where big builders were building thousand home developments all over the place.
Unbuilt areas can't be zoned for residential, just farmland.

There is huge upside to a commercial real estate collapse. Columbia Tower Condos with a mall at the base. Never leave your building. Shopping centers become work, live, shop centers with acres of parking lots to turn into pools and ball fields and green areas.
