โAccording to 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, Cardwell compares to NFL star Melvin Gordon:
โShows off nice combination of size, quickness and power. Has very good hands out of the backfield and is versatile enough to play in all situations. Has the speed to hit the home run and pick up big chunks of yards but the strength and toughness to run between the tackles and pick up yards after contact. Thick upper body and elusiveness makes him tough to bring down in the open field and he catches the ball well enough to play some slot receiver. Projects as a impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future high round NFL draft pick.โ
With Cardwellโs commitment, USCโs push to clinch the top spot in the Pac-12 Conference recruiting rankings is almost certain to fall short, meaning Oregon is expected to finish with the conference recruiting crown for the third consecutive year.
Overall, Oregonโs class remains at No. 6 nationally, but creates further separation from No. 7 Texas A&M, who was arguably No. 2 in the battle for the San Diego star.
The pledge also highlights the programโs growth as a recruiting power.โ
How many great running backs would you say we have right now?
.5. One, on the odd times where Verdell is healthy.
Healthy is the key word, and it seems like he's "healthy" for maybe 2-3 games a season. Travis Dye is a scat back without the wiggle, nothing more. I'm excited to see more of Dollars. That kid has speed and a little bit of shake as well.

.5. One, on the odd times where Verdell is healthy.
He has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his 2 full seasons-averaging around 5.5 yards per carry
Thatโs simply not good enough for a former All-American such as @ntxduck. The man has standards.
Lol. Itโs ok to admit our running back stable isnโt that good. Because itโs not.
Cj is good. Canโt ever stay healthy. Donโt think you can consider him great when he plays half the games.
Dye is a third down back at best and fumbles too much.
Dollars looks good but we havenโt seen him enough. Was hoping weโd see him more vs isu after having some nice runs against sc, but no.
Habibi gone.
Benson redshirted after surgery.
Who in that group would you argue is great? Terrence Whitehead is better than all of them.
When you put it like that, itโs interesting and true, although Verdell has been better than Whitehead was as a Duck.
Turns out Royce Freemans donโt grow on trees, and even heโs about one more year away from being out of the NFL. LaMike flamed out almost immediately, Byron Marshall never even played in the NFL, and Barner is a special teams player bouncing around teams.
I do like Dollars a lot too. He deserves more carries next year. Cyrus was not good other than as a 3rd and very short back.
The only real โgreatโ RB Oregon has had in recent years is Blount and he lost his shit against Hout and then had a crucial fumble in the Rose Bowl that should have been a TD fun.

Right now none of them are great. Verdell has ball carrier vision akin to bird box and zero patience.
Verdell makes an NFL roster, but right now it's more in the way Byron Marshall and Tony Brooks-James made NFL rosters.
Cardwell was a must get, especially given the entire offense fell apart (as opposed to a part) when Verdell was hurt this year and Seven McGee was already admitting he's a slot guy in 247 interviews. But an embarrassment of riches at the position is having so many running backs it forces NFL guys like Tra Carson into the portal or Byron Marshall to wide receiver. @DJDuck must be two young to remember the halcyon days of 2014.
Dye should not be used much unless they are in passing downs. He fumbles way too much to be trusted for more than a 5-6 touch capacity.
Verdell can't be trusted for more than 10-15 touches a game. that might even be too much, as his body has proven that.
Dollars I think has the highest upside of the returning backs, and he should get 30-40% of the rb touches week 1, with Verdell getting 50%, and Dye getting 10-20%. When something happens to Verdell, which something will, I think we need to add Benson into the mix.
How many great running backs would you say we have right now?
Hey moron. Can you read. What is the obvious difference between my statement and your ignorant assumption. Great Strawman argument though. I donโt think you would have a positive thing to say to your wife after she had given birth to your first child. It must be miserable being an ignorant jerk like you always looking for negative things to try and attack people. I had a great day. We got a great running back. Too bad youโre disappointed but hell you suck anyway. You will probably cry us a river when Gracen commits to the Ducks on Wednesday too.

Maybe Dollars, Benson and Cardwell add to the total next year. But we don't deal in hypotheticals.
Itโs a damned mystery. ๐๐๐๐

Thanks for the further thoughts on your opinion.
