There is a lot to play out. Watching how Morris does the rest of the way being the main thing.AtomicDawg said:
His deep game is epically bad so far. Also, that Utah secondary was starting two freshmen corners and he didn't look like he belonged on the field for much of the game. Winners win though. I will say LIPO but he should definitely face competition the next couple of years.RoadDawg55 said:
Doubt it. Time to learn our lessons and quit thinking the highly touted recruit comes in and plays right away.dnc said:
Unless Morris starts hitting the deep ball with some regularity Huard is going to lap him rather easily.RoadDawg55 said:
I do. Older and more experienced than Huard. It’s going to be tough for anyone to beat Morris out.PostGameOrangeSlices said:AEB said:On Bowman, remember this year doesn’t count on eligibility. We could have him Savvy ZTF Latu on the Edge next year. Think about that for a minute.
I forgot about this...you guys think Morris starts?
Morris will know the offense better, have more experience, and be better at leading the guys.
I’m not going to call Sam Huard overrated but he throws in 50+ times every game and his WR’s are all going Pac 12. Garbers threw for a million yards and a bunch of TD’s for a great high school program in a tough league and doesn’t start. Most QB’s are busts and don’t play.
I can also admit that we need to LIPO with Morris, but he’s shown enough that I have a hard time believing a true freshman will be better.
The play calling was bad yesterday. Morris stepped up and needs to continue to improve. I’ve seen enough positive that I think he’s a pretty good QB that’s just getting started. -
Yeah, Morris alternates between horrible and totally clutch. If he could break off 20 yard runs and clown a defense with his athleticism, that would be one thing. But Morris is not that guy.AtomicDawg said:

Utah's QB often looked better suited to P5 play. That said, Morris throws some big time lazers and you can win with him.
Ideally, he would be eclipsed but probably not by a true frosh. -
little concerned with his deepballz, but at least he does not shit his pants on 3rd downs. also did not seem nervous yesterday on that 4 min drillRoadDawg55 said:

Maybe. We won't know until he's here how well and how fast he can process. Quick decision-making, timing, and pocket awareness are all x-factors that are hard to gauge in high school and the lack thereof has led to scattered carcasses of 5 star QB busts everywhere. They're also things that Morris has done exceptionally well so far and will continue to improve at.dnc said:

If Huard can clear that bar then he runs away with the job. Only a handful of QBs have his arm talent, and Morris is not even close to being one of them. -
can huard run? is he mobile?

The defense was far better with Smalls at edge than Bronson. Low bar I know but I think he's pretty good.GrundleStiltzkin said:Disagree but it’s not his fault. It’s a depth problem. And when was the last tim he had to face some physically challenging.
Ps, Trice must be pretty bad.
Follow-up:
Second half defensive lock down came with major changes to the rotation. -
Tupatala had 3 snaps. He was in the whole series for Ulo and I was pissed about it.
-
He won’t run for a ton of yards, but he’s a really good athlete. He throws a great ball and is well trained, but he’s going to have a hard time coming in and starting especially if Morris continues to win.BaldwinIV said:can huard run? is he mobile?

He made on a nice run fit on the touchdown but Jackson Sirmon got prison loved by their guard or tackle which allowed him to score.RoadDawg55 said:Tupatala had 3 snaps. He was in the whole series for Ulo and I was pissed about it.

Morris will have the edge in understanding of the offense for sure but I don't think it's a huge edge. COVID has taken a pretty good chunk out of the leg up he would have had in Jon Don's scheme. And yeah he'll have experience on him but again, it's only going to be 6 or 7 games at best not 13 like a normal year.
The gap just won't be as big as it would be in a normal year.
As far as leading the guys is concerned Rome and especially McMillan came here to play with Sam. Morris will obviously have the edge with Puka and Bynum and I guess the OL but again I just don't think it's a huge edge.
Where the huge edge will actually exist is in the vertical passing game. Huard just throws an amazing deep ball which is both the thing Morris is worst at and the thing that's most important to Donovan's offense. JD wants to run consistently and the best way to eliminate the 8 man boxes we are seeing non stop is to have a home run threat behind center. Huard's skill set is a perfect match for the offense UW wants to run and while the receivers have underwhelmed some this year you will have at minimum four guys with the ability to get behind the defense next year in Puka, Bynum, McMillan and Rome (plus Emeka...).
Huard's skill set will match both the scheme and the roster better than Morris's. Again, unless Morris takes big steps forward with his deep ball.
Maybe Sam doesn't pick up the playbook quickly enough or needs time to put on more weight but what we know of his work ethic and upbringing I find both of those things unlikely.
TL;DR: ISHIT
