It’s tough for Hawaii but I can at least somewhat understand their position given that they are geographically isolated they can effectively insulate themselves from COVID
The tourism angle was fucked whether they shut it down or not so whatever

Disagree. There was a way to allow tourism and they fucked it up. Big time
I was on Maui in March. Lots of locals at the airport perimeter asking arriving tourists to turn around. Glad I was leaving, not arriving.
In March there was still a slim chance the Rona lockdown wasnt a hoax.
Die.
When did you decide rational thought simply wasn’t worth the effort?
I'm rational. Everyone says so. I have the most rational brain the world has ever seen. My doctor, the best doctor, took a look at my brain. He said this is a great brain, tremendous even. Very rational thoughts come from this brain.
You, on the other hand, are a fucking disgrace to humanity and haven't had a rational thought since Trump was elected.

Disagree
People aren’t lining up to fly ... and they certainly aren’t lining up to fly to places where typical activities when there aren’t on the table
In this case, the decision for Hawaii was effectively to isolate allowing the rest of the economy to remain open or stay open and operate at limited capacity levels
I don’t know the numbers but I can understand the logic ... and they are a unique example

There is no economy in Hawaii besides tourism and the military. Hth. They couldve socially distanced in the restaurants/bars and left the beaches open of people maintained distance. I have family that was going to go last month that said fuck it when the restrictions werent eased.
Instead the Dems fucked everyone over as usual.
A ton of people would love nothing more right now than to be at the beach in Hawaii after all this shit. Htfh

And despite a valiant effort, they got it anyway. I have family there, they’re hurting. Thankfully, a few of them work for the feds.
I know exactly which island she’s on and she’s right that it is economic suicide and for what? Yes, Kauai has limited medical facilities but there are ways to limit the spread without killing the economy.
I recently talked to a guy on Kauai who is loving the isolation mostly because he’s well off and still producing income. He’s not a native Hawaiian but a transplant. Meanwhile, I can think of a ton of native Hawaiians I know who aren’t working right now because there is no tourism.

Surely would have been safer with no Trump!
I’ve also said from the beginning the economic, social, etc fallout from this is going to be as bad or worse than COVID
I got zingers for days.
