None of it is exactly surprising or that far out on the spectrum. I would not be at all surprised if the CCP were to attempt to spread as much chaos as possible as close to the election as possible. Everything short of kinetic war is on the table for them. Imagine a massive grid failure on election night and the US tearing itself apart.
