When I was a kid we could rarely afford hotel trips. I didn’t fly anywhere until I was 21. And that was a job recruiting trip my last year of school. But we camped. O high end stuff. State campground. Coleman gear from GI Joes and Fred Meyers. Food from today’s equivalent of winco. If someone wants to go camping, they will go camping. Begging them to go because the campground isn’t diverse is FS.

This is my poor ass life story of camping as well.
We drove to San Diego when I was 8 to visit my uncle. Even went to Disneyland and sea world. Every night along the trip we had to scout for a motel 6. They had a pool. Also got lost in Oakland.
    Same.
You drove to San Diego in 1973? We should have met up for a Mr Pibb.

Media is always doing stupid click bait pieces like this. Everything is racist now. I try hard not to click on it and give them anymore revenue. Nobody is stopping any black person from buying camping gear at Cabela's or Big 5.

Easy for you to say when only white nationalists work at all Big 5 and Cabela’s. Plus some places don’t take cash so you need an ID with a debit or credit card.

The mountains are still too white. Will the systemic racism never stop?
