A key difference between Don James and Chris Peterman
Don James had the humility to fire Dorazio and bring in Gilby to revamp the offense, while still retaining Pinkel as coordinator. DJ was a few years late to the party but what a different it made when he did.
Some of us thought Pete was having that moment with Tedford, but after Tedford left Pete went back to shitting the bed offensively.
Peterman could have burned out in style with multiple Rose Bowl titles

Even had Gladstone texting me to go search the morgues
At any rate quitting with two national championships and a 4-2 NY Day bowl record > quitting
Actually, July 20 will mark the 16th anniversary of my interview with him in the Don James Center, when we talked about all that. Time flies.
Pete had his boot on Oregon’s throat and he let them off.
Sad
Mario Cristobal made Chris Petersen quit.
James just quit with 4 NYD bow trophies and half a NC behind the glass.
Petersen quit with...I honestly don’t even remember...
That said, Petersen is the 2nd best head coach in the last 50 years at UW, just ahead of Rick, who was basically an upgraded version of Sark.
Having to go HARD on recruiting kids who are getting hoodwinked, pimped out by their HS coaches, razzle-dazzled, and who are ultimately not as bought into OKG/B4L as he probably thought they were.
