WSJ OpEd: Coronavirus and the Laboratories in Wuhan

While the Chinese government denies the possibility of a lab leak, its actions tell a different story. The Chinese military posted its top epidemiologist to the Institute of Virology in January. In February Chairman Xi Jinping urged swift implementation of new biosafety rules to govern pathogens in laboratory settings. Academic papers about the virus’s origins are now subject to prior restraint by the government.

In early January, enforcers threatened doctors who warned their colleagues about the virus. Among them was Li Wenliang, who died of Covid-19 in February. Laboratories working to sequence the virus’s genetic code were ordered to destroy their samples. The laboratory that first published the virus’s genome was shut down, Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post reported in February.

This evidence is circumstantial, to be sure, but it all points toward the Wuhan labs. Thanks to the Chinese coverup, we may never have direct, conclusive evidence—intelligence rarely works that way—but Americans justifiably can use common sense to follow the inherent logic of events to their likely conclusion.

Mr. Cotton, a Republican, is a U.S. senator from Arkansas.
    Right-wing, crack pot conspiracy theorist.

What is with people on the Left with no scientific background or knowledge and attempting to invoke "science" as if their arguments were at all based in science?

    Climate change

Leftists love the conceit that all of their beliefs are fact and science based.

"It's science!" is pretty much the refrain of people poorly versed in how wildly variable scientific modeling actually is. Nothing like having someone with a liberal arts degree lecturing me about exponential equations or peer review.

We can tax our way out of the China 19 virus! Works for climate change.....

Seems clear blob craves my attention again.

Studying a virus is different than claiming the virus was created as an potential instrument of war. Smart people grasp the distinction.

Nope, I love exposing you for the lying piece of shit that you are. Weird how you never quote Cotton saying what you keep claiming he said.

Lying Kunts tend to do that a lot.
He has an entire twitter conversation where he engages in saying both (1) he didn't promote the conspiracy theory and (2) that he refuses to rule it out--though science has ruled it out. In short, he's as shady as you are, blob.
Science has ruled out that it was created in a lab? Got a link Kunt? Because the intent for which it might of been created doesn't seem to be something that can be determined by Science.

So you've gone from claiming Cotton "promoted" a "conspiracy theory" that it was a Chinese made bio-weapon to now admitting that he just didn't "rule it out."

And of course, you have no quotes from Cotton.
Yes. Science has ruled out that it was created in a lab, blob.

I'll leave you to parse the distinction between not eliminating a debunked conspiracy theory from consideration and promoting it.

I'm not saying you're a donkey human hybrid; I'm merely saying it's one of the possibilities.
    Seems bump worthy.
Does the lying fucking hack ever get anything right?

@heilhusky getting absolutely bodied in this thread.

    1) called out for useless word semantics @GrundleStiltzkin

    2) vaguely cites to Cotton - explicit contradictory evidence provided @SFGbob

    3) called out for hailmary attempt to save face by claiming the boogyman "science" somehow "proved" something, no evidence, examples, or explanation provided @UW_Doog_Bot

    That about cover it?

I think my favorite part of this was the 180 from a lecture on the distinction between "not eliminating a debunked conspiracy theory from consideration and promoting it" to science somehow unequivocally establishing the virus did not originate in a lab

The problem was/is that fully credentialed members of the US medical and science bureaucracy had plenty of scientific background and knowledge but if conservatives on the Tug along with self-proclaimed classic liberals could figure it out then what is left is that power and politics trumped the science. Fow Chee knew masks that the public was going to wear didn't work and that any vaccine for an airborne virus was problematic but he wanted the power and the supposed glory for being St. Fow Chee and he hated Trump and anyone who would challenge Fow Chee's imperial decrees. Then there was the CDC grant authority and the tens of billions for Big Pharma and the vaxxs that didn't work and Fow Chee knew at the time they would never have been approved under the regular FDA rules and agreed to an immunity clause for being sued for the vaxx manufacturers. Plus Fow Chee also knew he as responsible for US funding of gain of function research at a substandard chicom biolab in Wuhan. The vast majority of the US doctors meekly went along with the chicom crud fraud and I'll never trust a doctor that I don't know for any substantive treatment. Together the condemned hundreds of thousands of American to death by denying effective preventatives and treatment. They still are recommending the vaxx for 6 month olds. They all know better but remain silent and on the take.
