Me too. I stopped paying attention to it years ago. Once DeFord's obscure and intellectual pieces started to take more and more space, it became a hard pass for me.

Heckman seems to have had quite the career. He owned scout, sold it for 30-40 mil, then bought it back for 10 million later. Now he’s running SI. How did he initially get all this money? Family?
I remember one time, I interviewed Vince Weathersby and wrote an article for Dawgman. They posted the story at about midnight. At 7:30a.m. I got a call from Kim Grinolds. "DeeeeJaaaay... How ya doin'?" Kim went on to tell me that they had to take down the article. I asked why. Kim said because Heckman doesn't like it. I asked who was running Dawgman. Kim said something like he was in control but wanted to show respect to Heckman. So I asked/insisted that I speak to Heckman.
Heckman called me from a vacation home, I want to say it was on Bainbridge Island? He explained that Weathersby had betrayed him and the football program and he didn't want to give him a platform to talk. I told him that I thought it was a meaningful and balanced article. He said sorry but he didn't want it running on his network. And that was that.
Afterwards, I had people telling me that Heckman was running his mouth about what a jerk I was, etc.

Yahoo bought Rivals. Which isn't any reflection on Jim Heckman's business acumen - because Yahoo bought a lot of shit companies and tried to cobble them together.
Heckman was a douche back in college also. Was in the Greek system at the same time as he was and lived next door to him. Not many people liked him then either.

True. Functional retards could get seed funding from venture capital back in those days. I'm not kidding. I should have dropped the law, come up with some stupid idea, and pulled investment money and sold the company 6 mos. later. It seriously would have had a high probability of happening.
Nobody said capitalism was perfect. As long as human beings are involved.
