Yes, I saw the CDC director's tears and I'm sure they were real. And that's why it's inappropriate to put emotionally charged people in positions of power and responsibility.
When did this idea of putting homeless people in charge of homelessness, or emotional women scientists in charge of the CDC, or people with these "lived experiences" in charge of things? Terrible idea, because they can never, ever be objective and impartial while carrying the baggage of personal experiences they will default to drawing upon in a crisis.
Why do we have Civilian control of the Military? Because we don't want guys who've "been there" avenging pain and losses in every subsequent military confrontation or re-fighting wars in their heads like the CDC doc is doing.
Shitty leadership is all over the place today, because we're dumb enough to swallow that the most emotional people will make the best decisions, despite evidence to the contrary for all of human existence. -
