This should be our Sputnik moment regarding the global supply chain.
First, we've hopefully learned being highly dependent on China comes with a huge cost. Second, we are going to have to incent people to make American products and Buy American products to find our way out of this. The end result of that strategy has problems, too. China's economy will lose its biggest benefactor and they are going to struggle. The collapse of their economy would be problematic as it would likely drive China to do some things we'd prefer they not do.

Trump has a secret meeting with Mexico, agrees to the use of predator drones to wipe the country clean of cartels and incentivize corporations to shift away completely from China to Mexico.
You solve a couple of major problems with one meeting. Give Mexico jobs and import from the same continent.
Not sure how much bat soup Mexico is eating right now?

You joke, but much of what the re-written NAFTA agreement was forcing stuff out of China and back to North America...it’s why Mexico was on board from the beginning. That’s what pissed the Canadians off so much...they wanted to be the gateway between China and North America.
Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, etc. Should diversify the supply chain anyway beyond the realpolitik consideration. A diverse supply chain is more resilient.
Considering realpolitik, we should have never let China in the WTO in the first place. Kick the fuckers out.
