The closest thing to a moderate democrat running this year for president was Tulsi and she got no support and she is way to the left of blue dog Bubba.

I used to know the dem king maker in Oregon way back when. He was a 60's radical who dropped acid, dropped out and then when he figured out commune life didn't pay the bills he went back and got his law degree. As a college student and then a politically active rat 20 something I used to listen to every word he said and he liked to drone on about how he and his group were going to change Oregon politics from a grass roots level. Starting first with the libraries, schools and City of Portland low level employees. Over 40 years he did exactly what he said he was going to do. I know for fact his blue print was adopted by Colorado, New Mexico and Washington 60's generation liberals. They were all well funded and used to brag that they were using Conservative tax payer money against them. Most of this core group ended up running the dem party for all those states. That is when the legislatures in those states all turned and went far left. For obvious reasons we mutually cut off all communication with each other back in the late 80's but I would see his name attached to meetings and seminars in DC throughout the 90's when I was working up there. He was teaching others how it could be done in their states. He was very successful in doing what he wanted to do.WestlinnDuck said:

The things I admired about these scoundrels was their dedication to forcing America into what they thought it should be. Their willingness to stick to a long term strategy and not get impatient. Their ability to find people who were leaders, dedicated to the cause but not concerned about their personal wealth. Those people would take jobs in city and county government and at the administrative levels of education that didn't pay much but as time went by they would earn more authority and be in a position of control and influence and then they would exercise that influence.
Republicans don't think like that and the next thing you know you get the Katz's of the world running things and supporting all those lower levels below and their agenda and it is too late. The culture, the education and tradition are all gone.
I had drinks with an older Rep from Oregon while in DC. He was a Dem but older than the 60's democrats. We were talking about how Oregon had turned so rapidly. He told me a story about a grandson or a nephew who came home and told his parents about some revisionist shit he learned at school When the parents scheduled a meeting with an administrator to voice their displeasure, they were told that there was nothing parents could do and that if they wanted to affect change they had to go through the PTA. They felt helpless and yanked the kid out of public school. The Rep told me that things had gone too far left and the state was unbalanced. That was in the late 80's early 90's. -

Bush 41 didn't become President because the GOP Establishment hated Reagan. He was the VP of a very popular and successful President. Pretty hard to keep those type of guys from getting the nomination. -
I gave credit to Trump for, at least, trying to do what he said he was going to do- i.e., getting tougher on illegal immigration and push back on China. I haven't always agreed with the tactic and optics, but fine, we needed to DO SOMETHING on these issues. Trump is similar to Reagan in this respect that he's been willing to stick to his principles on these policies.RaceBannon said:
