I think this is true simply because his voters seem to give a shit and will show up
In my little average Joe bubble that sniffed out a Trump win back in 2015 in spite what my media was telling me, I have the same instinct Bernie would be a real problem.
They would show up, plus the 'anyone but Trump' sentiment is strong enough to pull the middle left.
Every professional liberal who has made a few bucks and would like to keep some of them isn't going to vote for Bernie. They may not vote for Trump but they certainly aren't going to vote for Bernie and his "free" shit for everyone party.
I get that, but I think you're under estimating how many 20-30 something's would be inspired to vote for Bernie. I see it on my feed every day. A lot of smart kids sitting on 100k of student loan debt upset at the world trying to be woke.
This is my experience. Bernie's probably the only one that can take the white working class vote back from Trump imo.
I might be wrong but yeah, I think he's the only one with a chance to beat Trump. The rest are landslides waiting to be crushed.

Great, and there will be a shit ton of 40-60 something's who will be inspired to vote against Bernie. Bernie has come out against fracking. Do you think that helps him in Pennsylvania? Do you think that Unionized auto workers want to give up their private health insurance in order to go on some government form of healthcare?
I don't know about all that or pretend to be a political guru, just my average Joe millennial take that was right before.
I think Trump and Bernie are different sides of the same anti establishment coin. Go back and watch the YouTube videos of everyone laughing at the notion Trump would get the nomination let alone the presidency.
You sound a lot like they did. I think there is something there.
If you cannot see the establishment Dems are actively trying to fuck The Heartattack Kid over then you are either willfully ignorant, or stupid.
Can't believe the Charles Grodin & Cybill Shepherd (when she was an Uber Wood) reference there. Do you realize the significance of that reference, @Swaye?
I have no idea who Charles Grodin is I just thought it would be funny to hijack The Heartbreak Kid and turn it into the Heartattack Kid.
The original "Heartbreak Kid," long before Ben Stiller's redo.

I think you're right, morally which is enough. However, relying on that demographic to vote typically doesn't end well.
Trump didn't call it the Blue Collar Boom because he is unaware of the Bernie threat to the working class vote
I think that socialists have always overestimated their appeal to blue collar workers. They may be getting fucked but they don't like to be thought of as victims. They don't want hand outs they want a good paying job and a house to drink beer in and watch TV. Was that snobbish enough?
Its a valid argument and the democrat establishment is doing all it can to help Bernie but Trump hasn't lost much if any support since 2016. Its that different side of the coin that makes the difference
I still say Bernie let history pass him by in the first debate with Hillary where he laid down on the emails.

A lot of Dems are not going to show up to vote. Mainly, the Biden Dems. Iowa turnout was lackluster. I think Biden's base (centrist, older school Dems) gave up many months ago when they saw their candidate was a fucking senile drooler. I also think these people will not swing over to Bernie. They'd rather see Trump and their will vote will be a no vote. Helps Trump.
Bernie's got the most active, vocal, energized base. Not nearly enough in my opinion. Plus, some, possibly many of the flakey fucks won't actually vote.
Furthermore, I think there are a hell of a lot silent Trump voters.

Wait what?
If you are an anti establishment candidate it helps to have the establishment hate you
Just like the GOP establishment helped Trump
Trump beat them. So far Bernie is 0 and 1 with the new game still going

I fucking KNEW that McGovern was going to win because everyone I knew hated Nixon. I was convinced
I will never forget turning on Walter Cronkite at 5 PM Pacific when the east coast polls closed and Nixon was projected the winner when they came on air
Fuck that stung. But youthful idealists tend to be idealistic

One of my wives is your age. She agrees - same story. She often says if all the people who say the voted for McGovern actually voted for McGovern he would have won in a landslide.

Not everyone enjoys being mocked and ridiculed like I do
IRL there are a few PMs I work with that are for Trump and we huddle away from everyone speaking in hushed tones about the race so we don't get sent to the camps
I will agree there are lots of silent Trump voters. No way are people like @YellowSnow and I wearing MAGA hats but come election time it's pretty clear we aren't voting for socialismo.

People laughed at Trump getting the nomination because they thought he personally was a joke not because they thought that people didn't support the policies he was promoting. There are a number of policies being promoted by Bernie that large numbers of people do not support.
I will agree there are lots of silent Trump voters. No way are people like @YellowSnow and I wearing MAGA hats but come election time it's pretty clear we aren't voting for socialismo.
I won't vote for the Dem nominee and I'm through with progressives until the the needles, poop, tents and RVs are gone from my neighborhood.
Whether I go 2 silver dollar libertariantard or Trump will depend on the State of the Union in Nov 2020.

Bernie isn't going to turn out the black vote either. Yeah they'll vote for him because he has a D after his name but there isn't going to be energetic support for him coming from blacks.

Pretty much where I'm at. My best guess is I'll be voting Libertarian again but it's really meaningless which I choose in the Sipp.
