Where’s the 5th category for defensive coaches who hire unproven OC’s?

a real academis kind of professor too. "...mettle..." LOL
met·tle
/ˈmedl/
Learn to pronounce
noun
a person's ability to cope well with difficulties or to face a demanding situation in a spirited and resilient way.
"the team showed their true mettle in the second half"
maybe he's using it the way the great poets did, but I think he doesn't really understand what that word means.gif from The Princess Bride.

verb
interfere in or busy oneself unduly with something that is not one's concern.
"I don't want him meddling in our affairs" -
Jimmy so far is being more of a figurehead, which is commonly the best way to be a head coach. Leave almost all the X’s and O’s to the coordinators. Hire guys you trust there and be very involved with recruiting so that you get your top targets and have the talent to win.NEsnake12 said:Where’s the 5th category for defensive coaches who hire unproven OC’s?
My favorite thing Lake has done is let Kwat call the D. Kwat was better at it anyways and front to back coaching on defense is better than the opposite. -

My reaction was the same. After further inspection I think his positioning and the camera are robbing him of some apparent size.insinceredawg said:
Doesn't look anywhere close to the 290 that Ektard reported. Did he lose a relative recently?Baseman said:Lohlhea can't be over 6' -- Murao is 6-2
Yes. The defense improves at least a bit just by having Kwat back in charge. Lake is a better position coach than coordinator.RoadDawg55 said:

Kawasaki make better in game adjustments than no ballz. So glad to have him back on duties

If a hit or miss journeyman is a big addition, yeah sure.GrundleStiltzkin said: -
If you weren’t setting school records for points around 2011 then you are definitely a windowlicker.DoogCourics said:
Yes, but also it’s fucking Vandy. He did set their yards and points records while there. Which was just 30 a game, so of course that keeps them from being a top offense.DoogWhisperer said:
He was never awesome at Vandy. His offenses were never in the top 60, but he was serviceable. He was terribad at Penn St.bananasnblondes said:Doesnt the general narrative out there go that Donovan was fucking awesome at Vandy but then sucked when Franklin stepped in and took away his full control of the offense at PSU?
But in the SEC, against SEC defenses, with Vandy talent..... are we not considering that successful?
Compared to its peers (other 2011-2013 offenses) Vanderbilt was not special.
Also re: ESSS EEE CEEE-
Franklin was 11-13 in conference. He had ONE win against a team that finished with more than three conference wins (2013 Georgia.) The 11 teams he beat were a combined 18-70 in conference. -

Agreed. He’s been saying and doing all the right things so far aside from hiring someone no one wanted. But maybe he knows something everyone else doesn’t.RoadDawg55 said:

Bringing back the spring game is a great thing for the fans to let people be excited about the team.
He will discuss defensive game plans with Kwat because it’s what he’s always done even as a DB coach, but letting Kwat have the reigns back to call the games is huge for in game adjustments.
He’s also said all the right things about the offense in regards to the mentality and approach. Aggressive, physical, vertical. It’s all the things UW offense hasn’t been under Pete.
It sounds like his main focus will be on being a figurehead who lets his guys control their jobs while he focuses on promoting the program, recruiting, and getting the best talent on the field to compete. It’s what his DB room has been and it’s been the best unit on the team for the last 6 years.
Hopefully Donovan did learn from his time in the NFL, and Jimmy isn’t overthinking and trying to outsmart the room with his hubris. But that’s also what makes Jimmy who he is and why we love him. He is creative and talks shit but backs it up.
Donovan impressed him with the X’s and O’s which makes me think it’ll be a power run team with play action over the top which will protect Jimmy’s defense and keep the play count and ball control in UW’s favor. He’s leaning into the strength of the team. -
You're right. Roadie is a hypocrite for judging another hire when he hired our new OC.FireCohen said:

It has nothing to do with UW. I judge all college teams. It’s called having interest and being a fan.FireCohen said:

I’ve been very vocal that Donovan was a shit hire on paper. -
The vertical stuff is cool when it comes to passing. Dink and dunk, grind it out, have long drives often creates shitty offense.DoogCourics said:

However, last year I wish we were less “vertical” in the run game. Not getting Ahmed the ball in space where he can outrun guys was stupid. -

Big if true. Watched a lot of Mater Dei this year, playing St John Boscoe and such and Bryce Young is short but helluva Qb. Would be bad for Bama if he goes elswhere.GrundleStiltzkin said:Tim to prove we?re serious about Clemsoning Up
D’Eriq Henry from Houston is in play as well. Game changer.
