Doesnt the general narrative out there go that Donovan was fucking awesome at Vandy but then sucked when Franklin stepped in and took away his full control of the offense at PSU?
Not sure why the arrangement would initially change at Penn State. I do think it’s possible it was Franklin’s offense. He was an OC before he was a head coach, but in any case, Donovan was bad.
It’s like saying Bush wasn’t bad because Petersen. It’s a grey area, but I’m pretty sure Bush sucked.
I can't wait for bruising vertical fly sweeps that are horizontal
Also hearing the 40 yard sideways pass to the fullback could be out of the offense
I cant wait for a QB "competition" that stretches all the way until the week of the Michigan game when inevitably Lake is forced to publicly choose someone and the 2 other QBs on the roster quit the team.
so a math guy telling you all about CFB coaching strategies. LOL

Where’s the 5th category for defensive coaches who hire unproven OC’s?
Jimmy so far is being more of a figurehead, which is commonly the best way to be a head coach. Leave almost all the X’s and O’s to the coordinators. Hire guys you trust there and be very involved with recruiting so that you get your top targets and have the talent to win.
My favorite thing Lake has done is let Kwat call the D. Kwat was better at it anyways and front to back coaching on defense is better than the opposite.

Yes. The defense improves at least a bit just by having Kwat back in charge. Lake is a better position coach than coordinator.

He was never awesome at Vandy. His offenses were never in the top 60, but he was serviceable. He was terribad at Penn St.
Yes, but also it’s fucking Vandy. He did set their yards and points records while there. Which was just 30 a game, so of course that keeps them from being a top offense.
But in the SEC, against SEC defenses, with Vandy talent..... are we not considering that successful?
If you weren’t setting school records for points around 2011 then you are definitely a windowlicker.
Compared to its peers (other 2011-2013 offenses) Vanderbilt was not special.

Franklin was 11-13 in conference. He had ONE win against a team that finished with more than three conference wins (2013 Georgia.) The 11 teams he beat were a combined 18-70 in conference.

Any chance we can lure Psalm away from his lucrative Rugby career to coach them?
