Sawant proposing a law to make it illegal to evict people during the winter months

The Supreme Court is an elected body in this state, but, yes, Inslee appointments to fill terms have been shit and once you're in getting re-elected is very easy. The problem is that they're all Western Washington liberals on the court. The court should be districted so that there's diversity of opinion. That would require a constitutional amendment being passed by the legislature, which is controlled by the Dems. So...TurdBomber said:
Inslee's Supreme Court Appointees are terrible across the board. Pretty much need to get outside the 9th Circuit to get a fair shot at anything close to justice.BleachedAnusDawg said:
Been paying attention to the other anti-landlord laws that the city has passed the past 3 years? Lots of lawsuits, and the courts have been upholding the city's laws, including overturning lower court rulings against the city.HHusky said:
Maybe. It will be struck down in court if that happens.BleachedAnusDawg said:
They held this issue until January so that Sawant can get more of her people in there. Morales is coming in as a socialist, too. Herbold is on board with this stuff because she hates property owners (even though she and her husband own two properties - fun fact, Herbold doesn't live in Seattle, she lives in North Bend). Mosqueda will vote for this because she hates landlords because one time when she was a kid her landlord evicted her mom because she couldn't pay rent. I could go on and on.HHusky said:
Let's at least wait for Sawant to get a second vote before throwing in the towel.Alexis said:This is so beyond retarded. So I guess I won't have to pay my property taxes for those months the tenant doesn't make their payments.
Jeezus, Seattle, you deserve every fucking thing you get. Idiots.
That's 4 votes, and the rest will fall in line because they're scared of being branded as anti-renter and anti-homeless. There's a reason why everything passes 9 - 0 down there at city hall (unless Sawant votes against the other 8). -
With some exceptions, Inslee’s appointments to the bench have been awful. There is bipartisan support for that view among members of the bar.BleachedAnusDawg said:

A ton of people I know share your opinion. They thought the same about the other laws that were dumped on them by Council that were upheld. This one is probably the most egregious because it's a clear government taking, but at this point anything goes. The last ruling on the First in Time ordinance by the State Supreme Court that re-enacted the law also tossed out 50 years' of case law protecting private property rights. It's the wild west for Council right now. They're going to be tossing out some wild shit and seeing what sticks for a while. Legislating through the courts. Pretty fucked up, but the voters aren't holding them accountable.HHusky said:
I’m aware of the recent Seattle ordinances. That said, this proposal takes unconstitutional to a new level. It would be struck down if enacted imo.BleachedAnusDawg said:

Seattle has a Renters Commission, with no landlords on it, and no similar Landlords Commission.
Sawant wants Rent Control with district committees stacked with 4 or 5 renters and only 1 landlord.
Why not call a Deck-Stacking Tyrant what she is? Fucking Communist Cunt. -
Agree. Just remember that 8 other councilmembers gave her that, and that people elected her. She is not the root problem.TurdBomber said:Seattle has a Renters Commission, with no landlords on it, and no similar Landlords Commission.

I get it. The people of Seattle generally suck ass. Can't drive. Can't bike. Can't think for themselves. Walk around like a bunch of beta-cucks with their fat, loud girlfriends bossing them around. Ugh. I'll be happier when I leave King County entirely behind and all I have to deal with is toothless meth-heads and petty criminals. Much simpler to live amongst those losers than cuck'd Seattle pussy liberals who would use their own mouths as toilets for homeless drug addicts before standing up for anything valuable.BleachedAnusDawg said:

Toothless meth heads are out in full force in rural North Virginia. It's pretty great.TurdBomber said:
