A ton of people I know share your opinion. They thought the same about the other laws that were dumped on them by Council that were upheld. This one is probably the most egregious because it's a clear government taking, but at this point anything goes. The last ruling on the First in Time ordinance by the State Supreme Court that re-enacted the law also tossed out 50 years' of case law protecting private property rights. It's the wild west for Council right now. They're going to be tossing out some wild shit and seeing what sticks for a while. Legislating through the courts.
