@RoadDawg55 had a take in another thread that is exactly how I feel.
“I’m trying to be patient. I don’t think everything is as broken as some of you. The offense should change and is long overdue.
We don’t play without emotion. The players were having a lot of fun in the first half and were really fired up. The DL looked the best they had all year early on. At times, we look very good.
I don’t think Pete is suddenly a bad coach. I don’t question his effort. He is bad in close games and needs to fix it. I am very worried about QB next year without Eason. That’s all the more reason to change the offense.
You are what your record is and right now we suck. I think we have some really good young players who are steadily improving. The margins are small tho. We all know we aren’t far off from having a really good record. That’s what makes it so frustrating. This isn’t like Sark where we knew we would get plungered every road game.
I’m worried about some things and right now sucks, but I am still fairly confident we’ll have some really good teams soon.”
One thing he mentioned, “He is bad in close games”.
This is something that has been killing the Doog in me. Soon I’ll just be Courics. Pete never gets blown out. It’s always close, even when it’s not.
Prior to this season, he had an insane record in games he led at the half, I believe 45-1. This year, he’s lost 3 of them, all at home, where he had won 20 of 21.
So those records have taken a hit, but surely, a handful of the games that built those records were close games that he held off the opposing team right?
Not really. Pete is now 0-3 in one score games this season and 9-16 at UW in one score games. When he wins, he wins by multiple scores.
As this season has shown, Pete struggles in game management and in game decisions. When the game is close, Pete loses twice as often as he wins.
Quite honestly, I knew I was frustrated with his in game decisions and knew the team loses close games and doesn’t get blown out. But I had no idea Pete was that bad in close games.
TLDR; FYFMFE

It’s been a mix of in game fuck ups, recruiting gaps, lack of development, and not closing out games.
And for the recruiting gaps, 61% of the Blue Chips on the roster are Freshman, and all season we’ve been yelling at shitty vets and screaming for the young kids to get a shot. So recruiting has gotten better, but it has to continue. We’ve seen this year that our evaluation and development isn’t perfect after all. There are misses, and there are holes.
In the last 20 years, only one team outside the top 10 in recruiting has won a title. Clemson with Watson. That’s it. So yes I’m a recruiting fag, but for the championship I’m wanting, it has to continue to get better. Double digit Blue Chip classes have to stack each year to make sure the roster holes we see this year don’t happen again. Recruiting isn’t everything, but it’s half of it.
Kansas State has 0 Blue Chips and beat Oklahoma who has 55. So coaching fucking matters too. That’s the other half.
So I’m patient, I don’t think Pete needs to be fired and I think he ultimately figures it out, but the Doog in me is being strangled. The offense needs to change, Gregory needs to go, recruiting needs to continue, and Pete needs to learn how to win close games.
TLDR; FUCKING FUCK WHY THE FUCK DO I WATCH THIS STUPID FUCKING TEAM???
You'll feel much much better. Trust me.
But it’s so much worse than you think.
I’m actually going to the game. It’s been in the works since the offseason to attend with some Beaver buddies I have.
Yes they’ve been cuttin it up about how they’re going to put 40 on us and thanking me for Babushka.
And yes, I’ve been contemplating self immolation.
Then he fumbles ....Utah kicks a FG and it was “oh fuck” time.
It was like the world stopped
Husky basketball is the only better thing to do Friday night.
I get to watch my son & his team get plungered.
What else do I do? I guess I could always start a podcast or something.
Bring your wife. 😉
