To me it’s like someone clear cutting the Olympic Rainforest or destroying Yellowstone. There are some natural wonders worth protecting regardless of how it impacts the environment.

They are replanting the trees they cut down, or turning some of it into farmland. Jesus fucking christ, in the big scheme of things it's a small portion of the forest. It can and does come back - look at all the parks in WA state where the cedars are young and the old ones stand out like some kind of awesome ancient relic.

About 90% of the oxygen produced by trees in the rainforest stays there, and is used up by the organisms living there. It’s a self contained ecosystem. The vast majority of oxygen that you breathe comes from the oceans.ThomasFremont said:
