Canada and Siberia is nothing but fucking trees, but somehow a few miles of rainforest in Brazil is the difference between life and death for humanity

Fuck off leftists. You retards can only cry wolf so many times before people see through your bullshit.

    A few miles?

Try ~10% of the global tree population. And almost 20% of the held carbon.

    Dumb fuck.

They arent cutting down the entire rainforest you fucking retard
Hitler didn’t kill ALL the Jews POTD.
    Goodwins law POTD
Fuck off, it rolls better than Pol Pot didn’t kill ALL the Cambodians.

    Poont still stands.

I’m not going to get into a screaming match with the doubters of climate change, so let’s put that issue on a shelf for a second. Can we not all agree that cutting down the Amazon rainforest is *bad*?

To me it’s like someone clear cutting the Olympic Rainforest or destroying Yellowstone. There are some natural wonders worth protecting regardless of how it impacts the environment.

Again, I hate how this has been politicized. Make it a damn national park. I hate seeing things of timeless beauty destroyed.

I agree it sucks, but don’t countries have the right to use their own resources as they see fit?

Imagine some country tell us? We can’t cut such and such forests down?

When the use of those resources has far reschcing consequences for the United States and the world, it’s a different story.

Good luck to any other country telling us what to do.

Did y’all forget we are AMERICA???

These countries need to use the resources to keep their citizens alive. It's a huge price to pay, but countries are willing to do anything to prevent a financial rebellion. What the U.S. used to do, and still does in some respect is throw money towards these countries, basically allowing our government to be held for ransom, so they don't resort to destroying the forests and other resources.

Soaring deforestation coupled with the destructive policies of Brazil’s far-right president, Jair Bolsonaro, could push the Amazon rainforest dangerously to an irreversible “tipping point” within two years, a prominent economist has said.

After this point the rainforest would stop producing enough rain to sustain itself and start slowly degrading into a drier savannah, releasing billions of tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere, which would exacerbate global heating and disrupt weather across South America.

Not being a socialist/communist shitbag is 'far right' now. Got it.

Yes. But if they fuck us over with their decisions, then we could and should lean on them with other measures to make them see things our way.

You know - make them an offer they can't refuse.

They are replanting the trees they cut down, or turning some of it into farmland. Jesus fucking christ, in the big scheme of things it's a small portion of the forest. It can and does come back - look at all the parks in WA state where the cedars are young and the old ones stand out like some kind of awesome ancient relic.

Is there this much of an uproar over Weyerhauser? of course not

    It's up to Brazil

    American leadership
    Colonialism

Who are we to interfere with a sovereign nation?
When another sovereign nation threatens us, we have a pretty consistent track record.
    How has Brazil threatened us?
Clear cutting the Amazon rainforest will have global consequences for air quality.

Feel free to live in Beijing, but I enjoy clean air.
    My God you are stupid.

What the US could do would be to build nukes and export LNG to Asia. But leftards don't do numbers and sh*t. What US leftards could do would be to use their money to save the Amazon. But they don't. Just like they consider themselves under taxed but don't said the shortage to the Feds.

I'm not buying the climate change hoax the socialists are selling. The Amazon rainforest is important to preserve though. At what cost is the question.

About 90% of the oxygen produced by trees in the rainforest stays there, and is used up by the organisms living there. It’s a self contained ecosystem. The vast majority of oxygen that you breathe comes from the oceans.

Thanks for taking the bait dumbfuck. Stick to the lame wannabe harvey road schtick.
