If true, I'm officially slightly worried about this year's running game.
Helps Sirmon though.
Outside of the bad snaps. I thought Mele did fine
I think he blocked fine.
There's three main components to CENTER.
Blocking. Snapping. Calling/adjusting the protections, communicating with the OL.
Mele was good at the first, bad at the second and (my guess is) a big drop-off from Harris on the third.
I like him and I think he's good but I felt a lot better with a four year starter leading the OL.
Feel like I'm fixating on this play too much, but the TD to Fuller was a good example of #3.
Ps, you left off 4, bag tech.
I mean I'm completely speculating on there being a drop-off here, I don't pretend to know enough about it to identify when it's being done well or poorly. I just know I feel a lot better about Harris' odds of diagnosing things and communicating them correctly than I do Melo.

Not saying Mele's as good as #MyNick in that dept either. That hot snap just showed that he understands at least some finer points of the CENTER roll.
Got to say we have come a long way depth wise. Pretty sure most of us would be pooping bricks if nick harris was hurt last year even more if Shelton 2 years ago
This entire thread makes me hate Henry Roberts even more.
The very rare Pete 4 star who was able to stick with the program but still busted. Not sure I can think of another. Gilchrist appears on that same track I guess.
Blackeye for Bellevue, IMO.
There are going to be a lot more of those coming soon.

Seems like we will have him start the next 3 years after Harris is gone, pretty impressive. Didnt think he'd be a recruit in a position to do that.
I know you don’t TBS but we recruited Murao for that spot. Mele is going to move back outside, he’s just a stopgap for this year.
My guess is that Mele will be the LT next year...the coaches seem to have the most faith in him so far with the young OLs coming up. I expect C to be a competition between Murao and Norgy.
Next year's OL will be interesting. I expect it to look something like: LT Mele
LG Watty/Ale battle
C Murao/Norgy battle (If neither looks good they may move Watty here for his Sr year. If Harris somehow redshirts from injury this year expect Murao to push for the LG spot.)
RG Curne/ Bain /Kirkland battle
RT Kirkland/Bain battle (if Bain breaks through expect one to be RT and one RG...not sure which...if Curne breaks through I expect Kirkland to move out to RT)
Fautanu will be competing for a spot. I think he’s better than a few of the guys listed.
I speculate that Mele is probably a pretty good student of the game. To be athletic enough and cerebral enough to be listed and get reps at tackle and center speaks to Huffs confidence. If Harris is out for an extended period of time I believe we will see MM iron out those snaps with repitition and be a quick study when it comes to proper line calls. He may get his lunch eaten this weekend as if I were Wilcox I would try to stunt the shit out of him. Hell, he may show vast improvement on Saturday from the first half to the second after seeing what the kitchen sink looks like.

Never base anything off what Haener thinks.
The more you have the more chance of a washout
