Petersen announced ... Interwebs factual
Head coach
Petersen was promoted to head coach at Boise State on December 16, 2005, succeeding Hawkins, who left for Colorado. Sophomore tailback Ian Johnson said about the transition, "We trusted him and knew he was going to take care of us. We knew he was a great person. He was going to recruit people just like himself. We waited for him to get everybody here and he got in the perfect people."[4] Petersen had served as offensive coordinator at Boise State for five seasons and was twice nominated for the Broyles Award, given to the nation's best assistant coach.
On December 5, 2013 Chris Petersen accepted the head coaching position for the University of Washington. He succeeded Steve Sarkisian (Sark) who left to take over his dream job of head coach at University of Southern California.
Boise State University, Bob Kustra, made a last ditch effort to save Chris Petersen for Boise State University, however, he was unable to match Washington's reported 5 year 20 million dollar offer.
