So it hasn't been about changing their strategy or messaging to kids, but more about showing that they're winning and able to make the playoffs?sonics1993 said:
By getting better talent. People act like UW realized they needed to get bigger on the line of scrimmage but Pete already knew that. Being able to get that talent was the issue but that playoff appearance really helped in recruiting.whatshouldicareabout said:How have Pete and Co adjusted their philosophy since the Alabama game?
That makes sense with your earlier answer about the perception of the Pac-12 holding us back with elite talent. -
Exactly. Most of us remember what it was like to feel like every 4* player had to live up to their ranking AND stay healthy in order to be a bowl team.jhfstyle24 said:
Which is why you recruit the best talent every year. At Oregon State, having an athlete of Irvin's caliber lose significant time/ability to injuries is a huge dent. In a well-recruited secondary, it's unfortunate still, but it's next man up.bananasnblondes said:
I'm pretty sure hes injured and has been since hes been here. Hes an amazing athlete but is currently on the Michael Neal/DJ Beavers trackBeno4Life said:@sonics1993 @AcropolisJr Is Julius Irvin a victim of the injury bug or is he not progressing as well as coaches expected? I thought he’d be the Cam Williams of 2018. XOXO for all the info!
Irvin seemed to be a real consideration in the depth chart when he was healthy as a true freshman. He was on the same level as Gordon. It's a bummer that injuries are delaying him, but he still has 4 to play 4. He's likely just looking at the full five year plan to reach his full potential rather than the (likely) three year plan that him and Gordon were both on before. -

Expect both Taylor and Hunter to leave, Levi and Eason could go either way. -
Exactly, the system wasn't the problem, the talent was. 34 4-stars since making the playoffs has really elevated our roster and shouldn't be a issue going forward.whatshouldicareabout said:

Can you provide an update on where we stand with DB recruiting for this cycle?
Covington: Seemed to be a UW lean but is now going to take visits.
Hector: Been relatively quiet, Eklund recently said Stanford could be leading
Esteen: UW lean for a while but still hasn't popped
Jackson: Plan B guy? -
That ranking is definitely in our best interest. We lose players where we most easily replace them.RaceBannon said:

As far as LB recruiting, Bruener/McDonald projected inside and Smalls/Banks projected outside? Any backup plans at OLB if we whiff on Smalls/Banks?

3 spots left, surprised Esteen hasn't committed yet but still think he does so, Ayden down to us and Stanford and hard to say right now where he goes but I will trust Jimmy and say we get him and Covington I still expect to jump on board in late October/November. We would take jackson but he's leaning Cal.insinceredawg said:Can you provide an update on where we stand with DB recruiting for this cycle?

I still regularly have to pinch myself re: tbs. It seems like just yesterday when I would force myself to get excited because a kid chose UW over asu Kansas state and Colorado.
It took me years of therapy to accept that a kid genuinely might want to go to UW over lsu ou or Bama, and I wasn't being mind fucked.
