I’ve been on a Russian history kick lately - very readable and helps one understand how the country got to have an autocrat like Putin:

The TV pairing (free on Amazon Prime, Russian with English subtitles):

Prepping for the Catherine the Great series coming to HBO.

TL;DR, "Russians are the most fucked up white people on the planet."
Pretty much...but it’s the most fascinating train wreck of a dynasty. It’s also interesting seeing how the politics were influenced by the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Wheel of Time is the best fantasy series I’ve ever read. Buckle up, it’s long. Amazon TV series is beginning production this month.

The Silmarillion. Read it in advance of the new LoTR/Tolkien series Amazon is making.

Just finished The War on Normal People by Andrew Yang. Can’t recommend it enough.

First Law trilogy is on the shelf tanned ready and rested.

Currently reading Fire and Blood cuz I’m a sucker for them dragons.

Been on a real nerd bender lately...

    So good. You'll love it.

I keep adding things in front of it. I’ve almost started like 6 times in the last few weeks, but ended up going with different books instead.

Malazan Book of the Fallen and the Expanse series are also on the docket.

But First Law is definitely next up. It came highly recommended.

Jess Walter has some good reads:

The Financial Lives of the Poets, Citizen Vince, Ruby Ridge

The Last Tsar on Netflix is pretty solid.
