I won't be disappointed either way. Both of these are awesome flicks. Gladiator got me more emotionally invested in the characters than AN, but either is deserving of the win here.
Come on fuckers. Gladiator is awesome in the Hollywood blockbuster mold. It almost transcends that genre. Great fucking movie.
It's really not in the same league though. Apocalypse now is a masterpiece. Vote better.
Agree somewhat with this ... Apocalypse is a masterful screen version of Conrad's classic novel with some heavy fucking weight actors. It does what it does rather well, and if I do say so myself @YellowSnow , this might have been a mismatch in the competition. 'Nam should almost be its own category.
That said, Gladiator because Rome, the mightiest of empires, spectacle, and the opening scene is Saving Private Ryan worthy. Scene when my? General comes flying down the hill with the cavalry to pinch Sledog's Nazi ancestors, who are busy getting mauled by the infantry, is cinema money.
My only disappointment is that fucking traitorous Quintus should have had a spear to the eye by the movie's end instead of surviving.
