Fuck JFK and that statement. The government exists to protect the rights of the individual. They individual doesn’t exist to serve the government. Everything else is noise and flag waving “patriotic” bullshit. You guys are all arguing like a bunch of statists. Both sides.

The "country" and the "government" are not necessarily the same thing.
I know. It was a crafty and purposeful selection of words to stir emotion. And it worked.

What exactly does an individual owe the entity of “country”?
The individual doesn't "owe" anything. But I think we all have a "duty" to be good, productive citizens and members of society.
Exactly. And that is serving other individuals and groups of real people voluntarily. Not some collective defined as “country”. It was a political speech to play on emotion. Many government leaders have used similar words to swayed the masses. Trump’s pretty good at it.

Exactly Yella. Needs to be more duty to community, your family, taking care of your own health and wealth. Shouldn’t even be a partisan issue.

And yet your politics are all about the need for a bigger state and more public spending.

What's the definition of virtue signaling again?
