Poverty is high because the cost of living is high. The cost of living is high because so many people want to live here and because of massive wealth creation. As problems go, it's a good one to have, because there are sources of funding for redistribution and investment in infrastructure that benefits everybody

It seems as though people like to pop off with lies and fallacies but get all butthurt when someone points it out. Then it seems the usual gambit is used to denigrate the poster to try and make some juvenile “gotcha” insanity.
This in itself is a logical fallacy. It is used by people that lack the tools to construct an honest logical argument. -
Bullshit. The counties with the highest rates of poverty are mostly all in the central valley where the cost of living is the lowest. The second and 3rd states with the highest rates of poverty after California are LA and FLA two states with a much lower cost of living.BearsWiin said:Poverty is high because the cost of living is high. California has high rates of poverty because it has high number of illegal and legal immigrants with low job skills. Also the very generous welfare benefits the state offers are a magnet for parasites. California was the only state to not see a large drop in it's welfare rolls after the 90s Welfare reform because Clinton allowed California to exempt itself. While welfare rates were plummeting across the country they stayed steady in California and that's how the state ended up with 1/3 of all welfare recipients.
