CD I think you’re overstating the economic benefit (yes, it’s significant to certain sectors of the economy) relative to the cost in social services both for the low skill immigrants + the native low skilled makes who’ve dropped out of the work force entirely. And the political cost - i.e., Trump in the WH - is more than I want to pay for cheaper hotel stays and delicious California produce. Again, as Frum points out - if the left in Europe and America won’t enforce borders then fascists (or populist nationalists) will.
