First of all, that's not accurate. Second of all, most Hispanic immigrants with the exception of Cubans like a government that will give them lots of "free" shit. They vote for the party that they see as their best option to secure this "free" shit. If you're black and you want a handout you're going to vote for Rats for the very same reasons.

I think if we have true welfare reform, of the type you spelled out the other day, then I'd be willing regulate the influx of cheap uneducated labor such that we are only importing what we need/benefit from. The truth is, these people do a lot of jobs that Americans don't want to do, and many of those jobs are for goods and services that have limited elasticity of demand (landscaping, agriculture, etc.). Long before American landscapers and fruit pickers will be getting a 401-K match, demand for those products and services will disappear. Nobody is paying $8 for an apple; nobody is paying a guy $400 to cut is suburban lawn.

If you get the hoards of unemployed and able bodied citizens off their asses and doing these jobs for roughly what the immigrants will do them, then I'm all in.

Of course, I've always been in favor of regulating the boarders for safety reasons and so that we know who is coming in ... any clear-thinking person wants that. What I've not been in favor of is labor protectionist policies. I think they're bad for us in the long-run, and in the short-run they're a problem unless there are people getting up and filling those slots.

Given where we are technologically as a species, there are still jobs that are hard and don't require great skill or education that need to be done inexpensively or not at all.

I honestly didn't know the answer to your question, so I looked it up. I had assumed that it would be the educational status of your parents, where you grew up and that skin color would be in there somewhere. I think this study would support that idea generally. I have no idea who the Urban Institute is, and if they're partisan or not.

Of course it wasn't accurate but it is further evidence of the left's desperate need to whip up racial unrest and to keep as many people poor and dumb as they can including the poor whites so they need government.
