Good interview. The dude is very articulate. That's not racist for Asians, right? Who else can't you call 'articulate'? The Throbber isn't on the daily race-baiting email notification list.
Some interesting ideas - he's absolutely right that the robots/automation is coming. But that's what happens when the cost of production becomes more than the cost of innovation.
He has better teeth than AOC too.
I'd need to see whether his wife is a hot Korean or a homely Cambodian before making any commitments to cheat on Melania and Ivanka.

I think it's okay to call Asians articulate.
Pretty sure they fall into the same thing as white people and can be sneaky fast cerebral gym rats

Agree on the future of robotics and automation ...
That being said any kind of technical, industrial, etc. revolution has historically proven that the needs of the future don't mean jobs vanish, it just means that the types of jobs change.
It's a good discussion point to me because it's something that we have to be conscious about going forward. That being said, I'm not convinced that giving $1k to each person solves the underlying issues.
We need more of these conversations though in politics and I hope that he has a platform from which to make his points during the Democratic primaries versus the typical socialism drivel that is largely coming from the left at this point.

I agree, he is right that automation is actually here and will continue to be disruptive as it ramps up, but this is hardly the first major disruption we've had. We were primarily an agricultural economy prior to mechanization, primarily manufacturing prior to the information age, and so on. The result has always been a march towards a higher standard of living and greater opportunity, often in areas unknown prior to the disruption. There is no reason to think that that will not continue to be the case in the future.
My issue with the guy is that he is another left wing democrat in a field of left wing wing nuts. "Freedom Dividend" (UBI without changing the current welfare system), "Single Payer/universal health care", "Student Loan Forgiveness", "Democracy Dollars", "Reparations" ..... etc. He's better at applying the lipstick than Sandy, but that welfare state/socialist pig is still a welfare state/socialist pig.

Indeed. The creative destruction of a vibrant and evolving economy will remain at a healthy pace. Then trump will put tariffs into place to protect his unskilled voters who can’t compete. Just like what’s going on now in the US manufacturing sector. LRR.
Yang knows how to speak to people in an honor and respectful manner. Sorely needed in political discourse.
I agree with this. He's excellent at presenting the message. Unfortunately, he's delivering an extremely flawed message.
He surpassed 65,000 donations, so he will be part of the debates. Let's see how he does. UBI is Trump's wall. Extremely impactful to get your name traction. UBI is not a likely reality any time soon.

He'll be the smartest guy on the stage, and he won't be the furthest left, but he'll still be left of Great Grand Uncle Joe, the early presumptive winner of the DNC beauty contest and Trump taker downer sweepstakes. Yang's problem is the same as all lefties. He sees government as the solution to too many problems of which government involvement only exacerbates. It's disappointing.
He has not backed GND thankfully. He is serious border security and wants to legalize weed. Yes, seeing government as the solution provider a concern for sure.
