Trump had nothing to normalize thanks to Obama, and I would add to him Bush. I love this quote from an earlier piece in the Times:
“If Donald J. Trump decides as president to throw a whistle-blower in jail for trying to talk to a reporter, or gets the F.B.I. to spy on a journalist, he will have one man to thank for bequeathing him such expansive power: Barack Obama.”
I may have missed it, but did the Obama administration actually have any journalists actually incarcerated? I know they were bullies when it came to tracking down shit they wanted to know, but I didn't realize they actually had anyone convicted and jailed.
