My doctor was giving me shit about insurance today. I said we really don't want to go there

70$ cop pay and 60 bucks of pills cash. I think I'm up to 3 or 4 grand a month for insurance thanks to all the fixing that has happened

He's like you're 62 now and you need it. I said I don't need a cabinet full of drugs like you did to my mom because she was old

He also told me I am going to have a stroke so I relented to some high blood pressure medicine

If I disappear you know why

62? I think you're doing well since you can remember details of a doctor visit from 40 years ago
That's in dog years. Uncle @RaceBannon is really 469 years old.

Find me someone that has a good experience dealing with their health insurer

Mine was awesome until about 2010. But I didn’t get to keep it.
Mine was also awesome until about 2014 and then the price of it skyrocketed. $70 initially, ditched it at $500 a month, it's now well over $1k a month for the same insurance.

    And you're young

Mine was a "free" as you could get because my employer paid for it. That went out the window

All so we could move a few million off of one government program to another and claim victory

Luckily my employer stepped up to the plate(privately owned company) and gave us great insurance(for now). $20k bill for my daughter's delivery. Paid $150 total.

Of course, that has effectively locked me into my employer and ended my labor mobility(which I'm sure the president knew when he ponied up for the insurance, smart guy).

Eh. I think if most owners/executives could do away with healthcare being at all the company's responsibility they would

I’m still skeptical of her but this is a huge step in the right direction.

Agree completely. I disagree with APAG on piles of shit politically, but I respect the fact that he owns his positions, defends them, and doesn't whine like a bitch all the time like most of the other democratic socialists here.

A lot of them have. @UW_Doog_Bot and I were worth it. There comes a time when it isn't

I used to have the whole family covered and paid for by the boss. If I had stayed there we'd probably go 50/50 on the cost for me alone

This is exactly why we should go to Medicare for all. Businesses need to find a way to profit more every year. And one way is to cut benefits from their workers.

El oh El at Canadians flooding to hospitals in Seattle. Reminds me of Bob's claim that he sits in the ER for hours with a bunch of illegals.

I was fine purchasing my insurance on the open market until some strange entity(must be those darned capitalist insurance companies) made it completely unaffordable to do so.

Perfect example of the government intervention circular logic.

And now you have an open forum to buy insurance on the internet and be able to shop amongst carriers. If you can't do that to find the right price, I can't help you. In addition, don't act like your insurance wasn't going up regardless of Obamacare.

@HardlyClothed and @allpurpleallgold won't defend Obamacare. They may have a different issue with it than you and I do but they are honest enough to admit it is a steaming pile of shit

It failed to go single payer and it destroyed what was working for us. Lose / lose

Hondo is evidence it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Justify single payer and destroy the free market.

Obamacare has its issues no doubt. The main thing it did was create an open market to buy insurance. It controlled costs. It added taxes that not one person on this board paid. And it included a mandate that is now gone. And every person on this board got to keep their doctor unless they retired.

In addition, overall the cost increases each year slowed.

Medicare for all won't happen anytime soon. Obamacare happened because Democrats "had to do something" and had the power to do it. And if we went to Medicare for all, it would kill the insurance companies. No politician will let that happen.
