Since over 50% of healthcare spending is paid by Medicare / Medicaid already, market forces are pretty much impossible going forward in health care.
By law, Emergency Departments must treat every person who walks through their doors and it is the most expensive point of care / service. That doesn't make any financial sense, neither does Congress prohibiting Medicare / Medicaid; that defies economies of scale and purchasing power. What sense does that make?
Medicare and Medicaid block grants to the states could be a solution.
To get Republicans on board, there might need to be some changes to HUD for a compromise. The Federal Government is too big, has had significant mission creep since the 60's, and since it can run annual deficits (unlike the States), more waste (than usual government spending) happens at the Federal level.
Significant mission creep is plaguing every government agency at all times. Fucking kingdom builders, man.

Exactly why it’s important to vote straight Dem in every election. Stop Federal Government growth!
I support unfucking up our health care insurance and delivery system. The last attempt did not make it better. The entrenched in DC don't really want to make it better. They do have the best healthcare in the world and we pay for it. A little class warfare there.
Obamacare did have some good things. For one, it did cut costs on Medicare and such and overall, the growth in medical and insurance costs slowed. Two, setting up exchanges on the internet to shop is something that needed to happen and wouldn't have otherwise.
You can argue other things such as the individual mandate and additional taxes and some of the regulations which added costs to Businesses, such as the annual ACA reporting requirement.
That being said, and you will disagree with this. But as long as there is a profit motive in people's health Care decisions, the system will be fucked up. The government is awful and inefficient. But everyone on this board would save money, and have the same care, if we went to a single payer system. (Assuming it was done right which is a whole other argument)

Trump has successfully shut down 1/3 of the government. I’ll vote for him when he proves he can shut the entire farce down for good. I’m slightly approving of that fat fuck’s performance so far in 2019.

IRL the Throbber actually interacts with a couple Federal agencies on occasion. Last interaction was BY FAR the most receptive to doing business. The previously heretofore fucks were actually pretty good guys and offered suggestions on how to expand and push the project through. Same thing with some environmental bullshit that was holding up the show. Gone.
It was almost like they were trying to actually help the people get jobs in the god forsaken wasteland where this project is located. It makes Pullman look like Vancouver or San Francisco.
I asked them about their new helpful attitude, all cheery and shit. They said it's a total different world with the Trumpster wheeling and dealing. They'd been twiddling their thumbs the last eight years.
I watched the video. She’s likeable, isn’t full of Shit and cares about her people. She’s a veteran, knows the ins and outs of how things work in Washington and the MIddle East. She worked with Bernie, and would push some of his policy. But she’s not married to it. Sounded as if she worked with Him as the lesser of 2 evils more than anything. It would be interesting to me to learn more about her platform as time moves on.
In the here and now it seems the Dems May be taking a hard left with all of their new Congress people getting attention on Twitter and elsewhere. The Wokescolds will try to fry her for her Father and some of her policy towards gays when she was younger. But most of that will be forgotten when it comes time to groom and pare down the field. The moderates will be left standing in the end.
She supports medicare for all, free college and the green new deal. Still strongly considering it?
The first two are all about restructuring the system to control cost. If it's the same 'blank-check' approach as Bernie, than No. If green new deal is drawn up like AOC's plan to tax people through their eye-balls, then No.
Even that Mormon armpit sex would be sloppy with those flabby upper arms. And she's got the deepest female voice since Maude. 2 immediate strikes.

Same as the pic above. Clock in. Run your own team's playbook. Clock out. Then off to cocktails and laughing their ass off at the rubes who keep voting them in. Probably some handjobs and gloryholes and fucking, too but I watch too much TV.
