If it’s all about giving kids the best chance for success why aren’t we paying for them to go to college?

Because MOST kids don't belong on college campuses, as we can plainly see everyday. MOST kids need job skills and job training, not to be endlessly pondering what future trauma Jack will endure after he switches his anatomy to Jill.
While I would take some issue with "most", depending on how you define it, I agree with this. I don't agree with the latter part, as we've kicked around here. I think the idea of indoctrination centers, which is not new, is woefully exaggerated. The guy who really invented that idea was William F. Buckley, and he did it a long time ago. And here we are, with Wall Street as big a player in our collective culture as ever. We are still VERY capitalist around here.

On the point of birth control, whatever in the fuck works. If free condoms or pills do it, then so be it. Sign me up for a contribution. Cheaper in the long run.

And, sure, it would be good to get the kids to be more responsible. But while we're working on that, keep the unwanted birth rate down by any reasonable means possible that don't infringe on civil liberties. Not a liberal/conservative issue to me. Most of the real right wingers in my circle are in favor of doing what's necessary, short of abortion, and that's a whole other can of worms.

@dflea is right, though perhaps it's less of a generalized Republican thing and more localized among those adhering to the religious faction of the party's base. But birth control through abstinence was, at least at one tim, a politically conservative position that tended to be Republican. Dubya was a big abstinence guy, which wasn't surprising given his closer (compared to HW) relationship to the christian right.

I don't have a problem with sex education that includes the message, "just don't", but I don't hold my breath. Consult @PurpleThrobber , our resident expert on all matters of fornication. He'll tell you: the teenage body is wired to have sex, and a lot of it. Our DNA still thinks our life expectancy is about 25.

Yes. Actually. DaBoner doesn't like his own words.

I’m for teaching people not to fuck and have kids they can’t support. And to get married if you want kids . And having two parents raise the kids. My idea is to hammer that in schools and in the communities
You can interpret that your way or you can interpret it to mean, teach people to have sex without having kids. That’s how I interpreted it.

You of all people should have grace, when it comes to ambiguity.
Withholding valid sex ed in favor of abstinence only sex ed and not providing easy access to birth control is a curious way to accomplish this.
Where did I advocate for that? My girls both took health (sex Ed) in HS and we (their parents) also discussed it with them. Shockingly, we are heavily involved in their upbringing and they are good kids who will be productive citizens. It’s a foreign concept, I know.
Where did I say you did?

The GOP are champions of abstinence only sex ed. It's fucking stupid, but it seems to be ok to accept idiocy from the GOP around here while the Dems idiocy is grounds for declaring a national emergency.

I tip my hat to you for being engaged with your kids' upbringing. They're already ahead of the game because of that.

PS - Fuck off, Gaybob. I wasn't fucking talking to you.
Yeah, it sucks to have your for shit argument completely destroyed.
Did fuck off confuse you, you drippy fucking cunt?

Go hump someone else's leg, faggot.
Yeah, that's probably that tact that I'd take if I was lightweight Kunt who just had their ass handed to them.
Sure, faggot. The tact you'd take is spending the next 4 days going back and forth with Hondo because you are a faggot with no hobbies or job.

    Then you'd do it again.

It's because you're a retarded shitbird with nothing going on in your pathetic life.

    Fuck off, loser.

We lose most kids long before college. That's the problem.

If you want to help kids get college paid for the colleges have endowments that would cover a whole lot of tuition. Eliminate student loans and all of sudden you need market pricing again. More federal aid means higher tuition.

First rule - why do people charge what they do? Because they can.

This is true. The people going nowhere seem to come out of the gates like that. You could tell before we were out of elementary school who was going somewhere and who was a future welfare case. It might not be like that everywhere, but it was in Shelton.

Did anyone go to college from Shelton? The majority of the 48 kids from South Kitsap to go to college went to WSU.

But really this is the case, even looking at my kid, friends kids, nieces and nephews. Most you know early whether they will go to college or not.

I'm not an advocate for free college but for a different reason. I want people to have skin in the game. Right now I have the money to pay for my kid's college but he won't know that until he graduates. I think by and large, the true shitbirds won't go to college even if it is free. And the professional student shitbirds with humanitarian degrees will still get those degrees whether it's free or not.

Where is the teaching them to fish part? You got the part of not giving them a fish down but like you said it’s teach them how to fish. If you have ideas on a program designed to help welfare recipients by “teaching them how to fish” and eliminating welfar I’d love to hear it. I actually think that’s something that could get a lot of support if it’s good.

Or we’re you just being an asshole, spewing a not at all thought out point because it sounded good in your tiny little brain?
I’m for teaching people not to fuck and have kids they can’t support. And to get married if you want kids . And having two parents raise the kids. You’re a victim after all
This is your quote DaBoner. You don't say statistically until you get called out. Embarrassing.
So? That’s what I meant. What’s your point?

Don’t have kids as a single mom. Finish school. Have two parents raise the kids. Don’t commit crimes.

Statistically that’s the best chance to not be poor. Sorry that hurts your feelings.

I want people to proposer, you want people dependent.
I want people to be free to have their values guide their life. You want to force your values on others.

BTW I know several high school drop outs that make a shit ton more money than you.
You want people to have the freedom to live their lives, according to their own values and choices, but to be free of the consequences of doing so. My Libertarian slant means I’m all for letting you do all the drugs you want, have as many bastard children as you can, and forego your education to work that McDonalds gig. I just don’t want to pay for your choices. You pay for your kids, you pay for your rehab, you pay for your hospital visits and you pay for your drugs.

The role of government is to protect you from me, and vice versa, it’s not to protect you from yourself.
That’s great. Finally, common ground. Where do you want to start? Wall Street? The EPA? Let’s just start throwing regulations out there, I mean that is, according to you, the governments role.
Again you want to use other people's money, and or the muscle of the government to force your values on others.

Well, that’s the role of the government. And I didn’t say it @USMChawk did. And @Swaye said “well said” and @RaceBannon threw a chin out there.

If you have a problem with that, I suggest you stop quoting me and take it up with them.
Wow, you got triggered in a hurry. Do you disagree with what I said or are you emotionally reacting because I’m being callous? It’s a big, cold, brutal world out there and I tire of the leftist victim mentality wanting to tear down the very system that protects them from that reality. The system isn’t perfect but it doesn’t need an overhaul, it needs a tune up. Our politicians won’t do it because they need to pit us against each other for votes. Term limits would solve some of that.
There’s literally nothing “emotional” in that post. You said something really stupid and can’t defend it so now youve resorted to attacking me for being triggered. Predictable.

It's not government's job to arm you with a club simply because you hate capitalism and want to punish successful people.

Now would you care to address your belief that people can't have sex without having children?

I’m not enforcing any values. The people on Wall Street sent this country into a recession. The other people in this country need protection from that. Do you disagree that the recession was harmful to the average American? I’d love to hear you make that case. Otherwise, your standard is the government needs to protect me from them.

“And let me be very clear, I am not just talking about 4 year universities and colleges. I am talking about community colleges. I am talking about vocational schools. I am talking about apprenticeships. We desperately need highly trained and highly skilled electricians, welders, plumbers, mechanics, pipe fitters and health care workers of every kind”.

Well, Damone seems to think we can teach people to stop fucking. If we can get people to stop having sex, we should definitely be able to get them to read.

    I didn’t even @you Mike. Don’t worry about it.

    https://cbsn.ws/2GYii3B

And of course, she is the arbiter of what is "morally right." Stealing the labor of people who earned it and giving it to those who didn't earn it is "morally right." There isn't a despot who ever lived or a Brown shirted fascist who supported them who didn't believe that what they were doing was "morally right."

Who cares about the facts when you're "morally right." Words Hondo obviously lives by.

The Bible says don't give a man a fish, teach him to fish.

So cut da welfare wagon off.

    It's morally right.

    Amirite?

She still has a nice rack but is dumber than a rock on what comes out of her mouff. It would serve a better purpose to suck on throbbers instead as the good lord intended.

My idea is to hammer that in schools and in the communities rather than to say fuck it, you get PAID by having more kids and don’t let anyone tell you your situation is your fault.

If you have a problem I suggest you read again what he said.

The role of government is to protect you from me, and vice versa, it’s not to protect you from yourself.

He doesn't say that the role of government is to be used as a vehicle for you to force your values on others. If Wall Street has harmed you then government has a role in addressing that.

Without the government that you love so much Wall Street wouldn't have been in a position to put the country into a recession. You want to use the power of government to force your morality on others. That was part of problem and what eventually led to the housing meltdown.

Hey, look at you doing things. Nice job. I mean, it’s garbage but you’re getting better at this. I give you credit for that one.

It reads angsty but I’ll allow you the Hondo defense and you can claim that what you wrote is not what you meant.

Care to elaborate on what I said that you found so stupid?
