Two things: I think we should all pitch a dollar in because @Dennis_DeYoung will break his tv this weekend. So hopefully you can get a nice TV for 27.50.

When you listed the whole staff in the beginning that was a pretty sad realization. I guess that's the kind of program Pete wants. No flash. No effort in recruiting. Just thinking you're gonna outsmart everyone, which you obviously can't.
We need a new special teams coordinator who can coach. We need a real recruiting coordinator who isn't busy coaching RBs and chasing light-skinned bitches who aren't his wife.
We need an Edge coach who can get us actual pass rush talent. Paopao needs to be on thin ice if he doesn't make an effort in recruiting.
Pete needs to start holding people responsible. He finally benched Jake because of his attitude. It probably lost us the game but it sent the right message.
Now he needs to hold his coaches accountable. And he needs to hold himself accountable for his own short-comings.
Saban is just as fucking white and try-hard, but even he doesn't take himself as seriously as Pete, nor does he think he's to good to recruit important recruits personally.
Pete, please stop thinking you know better than everyone. Start learning from what other people do better than you. If you're not getting better, you're getting worse. -
I agree, IF he changes we can proceed. Right now he has capped himself and he will have to change that if we're going to get better.YellowSnow said:
Don't agree that Pete has reached his ceiling at UW in the same way he did at Boise. At BSU he was never going to get more talent and therefore couldn't compete for a CFP spot. At UW he has made big strides (in theory) in fixing recruiting after the lackluster 2014- 16 classes. If has a come to Jesus moment regarding the offense and evolves here we can level up.Mad_Son said:I don't know what to say here... just fuck. Fuck everything.
Like years ago I understood the impact of our lines recruiting but I either didn't realize how bad we were doing at other positions or I thought we'd compensate somehow because we got ourselves in a really bad place.
I think it was worth rehashing what fast strategy means because I still think the are a lot of people who don't get it.
Pete reached his ceiling at boise and he has reached out here. Turns out they are the same. We aren't leveling up again until Pete accepts kids who have fire. Too bad if he changes his ideology today it is still 3+ years until we see the impact and that isn't happening. -
It will be so funny tomorrow when everyone is asking why no one is paying attention to the game and looking towards section 221

Hot maff talk is hot @Dennis_DeYoung
Because I'm lazy can you link me the book you were talking about? Curious if you've read any of Malcom Gladwell's books on decision making. There's a lot of parallels to what you were talking about with outlier performances creating a psychological "anchor".
Can we get a DDY recommended reading list as well? -
Gladwell is a good read! Before kids ruined my life I had read 3 of his books. Now I just read this shit while I hide from my family while taking “really long shits.”UW_Doog_Bot said:Hot maff talk is hot @Dennis_DeYoung

Predictably Irrational was the name of the book (not really recommended) by Dan Ariely. The peak-end effect is the idea that people remember the peaks and ends of experiences. Pete fixated on the PEAK of how he won at Boise. Kellen Moore, PhD football, outsmarting everyone in recruiting by looking for factors that were rare so he could turn guys that, on the surface, have a 10% chance of being good into top players.UW_Doog_Bot said:Hot maff talk is hot @Dennis_DeYoung

Now, he's trying OKG bullshit with fucking DJ Rodgers. You see 3 plays of him, you know he can be good. Stop thinking the situations are the same: you now recruit the players you could never get at Boise. Just make sure they won't fuck up the effort and take all good in-state players. The end.
Other books:
Blink is good by Gladwell as is the tipping point.
Best book on human minds is probably Strangers to Ourselves by Tim Wilson.
The Selfish Gene and the Extended Phenotype are also quite good by Richard Dawkins.
This is a nice discussion on the rapidly improving science of how we are understanding how gene-selection (and epigenetics, so fuck you epigeneticists, it's basically gene selection) and culture reinforce each other: https://fivebooks.com/best-books/joe-henrich-cultural-evolution/
Thank God for Protestants. -
What’s the intel/scoop on “trying okg bullshit” with dj?

Loved Blink and will double recommend it to anyone bothering to take our recommendations. I'll have to read tipping point.Dennis_DeYoung said:

Always had a love/hate with Dawkins. He's not wrong, just smug? In his writing.
Read Guns, Germs, and Steel before and liked it enough to read its follow up. I'll check out some of the others on the list.
As far as Pete, as I've said before I think he's learning but he's also stubborn. Had he not gotten rid of coaches and leveled up recruiting I'd be calling for his job. The fact that he did though makes me at least hopeful he can continue to adjust and evolve to his new reality albeit not as quickly as we would all like. -
I’m despondent for the rest of this season. Fuck this team.
-
Fuck you intellectuals who read. Who has time for that shit? Seriously, you're the ones who make the perfect the enemy of the good. Instead, work with your hands in the physical world. That's how you learn things like "Goliath would smash David 999 out of 1000 times" instead of being like Pete and thinking, "Hey, that David guy got lucky with a trick play, so why can't we? In fact, let's try it a couple times in every game." Meanwhile we recruit a roster full of Davids while USC, Oregon and Cal recruit all the Goliaths.
Does my rant not make sense? Well excuuuuuuuuuuuse ME!!!! You're the guys who read Malcolm Gladwell, so, you librarians can figure it out while Ima go change a tire on my truck! -
Don't get despondent. Get MAD! And alienate all your friends and family, because they deserve it.backthepack said:I’m despondent for the rest of this season. Fuck this team.

Scientific progress offsets a lot of the randomness in mating and health. We get way more kids to puberty than ever before.YellowSnow said:
