Recruiting is about 3-4 years in the future. Let me illustrate...

Browning sucks, but the only real deep threat we seem to have is Ty Jones. Ty is good and hopefully improves, but he’s soft right now.animate said:Imagine the offense when you can have good receivers actually running in stride and catching the ball without breaking it?
Instead of playing football in a phone booth?
Because that's what browning does. Shortens the field for the opposing defence.
Guys like Pettis and Ross helped browning because they stretched the defence.
Can't wait until Eason or whomever get's in there.
Browning sucks, Pease fucked up recruiting, and our offense is complicated and takes guys awhile to feel comfortable because it’s fucking stupid. -
I wouldn’t call ty a burner though. More high pointing jump ball type shit.RoadDawg55 said:

Serious question, does that alone stretch the field? I’ve always thought you needed a true “burner” to stretch the field. I don’t see one of those in our WR depth.
I have no doubt that Eason can make throws left handed that brownsocks can’t with his right. We shall see.

Browning was a Heisman hopefully with an elite burner. Did he really catch a case of noodle arm or did Ross just leave?

He was good for two games. That's it. Two games.DawgFader said:Browning was a Heisman hopefully with an elite burner. Did he really catch a case of noodle arm or did Ross just leave?
After he threw the stupid INT vs. Utah and got injured vs. Oregon State he was never really the same. He put up 'video game' numbers vs. Cal but that was because they suck and John Ross was torching them.
He had a fucking awful game vs. USC, Colorado and Bama. He wasn't that great vs. WSU either, but throwing wounded ducks to great receivers against shitty CBs turns out to be a fine way to live. -
2019 WRs
1. Bryant
2. Jones
3. Fuller
4. the field -
This. His arm was never the same after the Oregon State injury.Dennis_DeYoung said:

I don't even buy this narrative. His arm was always bad. It wasn't that much worse after the injury. Bad decision making has always been as big of an issue as the weak arm. It's insane how much he was bailed out by Ross and Pettis.AEB said:

Browning's arm is 15-20 yards less than your average college qb.
His accuracy and abilities are above average ... If you give him lots of protection and tim to throw.
Problems are that:
- his effective throwing radius affects UW's area of play meaning that the offense has to play in squash court rather than a tennis court.
- guys like Ty Jones have much of their weaponry neutered because browning cannot take advantage and stretch the field (hi Jacob Eason!)
- if you give him bad protection or you play the elite teams they will pressure browning into mistakes and a squash court will amplify those mistakes.
Imagine 4 years of Myles Gaskin under Jacob Eason. Or salvon ahmed. -
I forgot to mention ... everytime I saw John Ross or Dante Pettis (or anybody else for that fucking matter ...) actually slooooow down waiting for the ball to arrive just made me mad.
Watch the famous Ross Cali touchdown, he almost jogs the last 7-10 yards patiently waiting for the ball to arrive which means he had to juke the whole Cal secondary. Of course, this helps Ross get drafted but still.
Watch Browning launch the ball. Ughh. If Browning had the arm the whole juking thing would have never happened because Ross would have been gone and the secondary would have given up.
