I scoured Fox news and saw nothing about this but hondo will call it a talking point. But anyway if the dems call for a vote it would seem to be a slam dunk to vote him gone and be done with him. I am sure they could get two rinos to go along. So why keep delaying?

The red state Senators up for re election are hearing about it and it isn't good news. They need to sit there and hope the smear makes the Administration cave without a vote

I've been right and I reckon I am right again

This is so going to backfire against the democrats. It will once again activate the portion of the base that was activated in 11/16. This will not be seen as tit for tat for McConnell's shenanigans. It will be sold and seen as deep state override of the people's will. Just this morning the memes were flying: "We the People Demand Justice Kavanaugh's appointment be Confirmed!"

I can't imagine being red in a red state and being pissed off at my senator for bungling this unless he were part of what is being called a lynching.

    We shall see.

Do you really think if they had a vote today he'd get bumped? Who would the rinos be? I have no idea who's on the fence.
Susan Collins and Murkyowski are usually mentioned. And Flake hates Trump's guts
Just seems like political suicide in this context. Maybe less so for Collins; Maine is a weird place and can be very conservative and very liberal, both in a different sense than how those political philosophies are expressed elsewhere in the country. On both sides it has a strong libertarian and fierce independence streak. It's also New England and everyone in Maine knows and loves a liberal from somewhere. Compare/contrast Texas.

Flake is a Trump hater, true, but Kreist, will the Arizona base forgive him if he is the inflexion point on this thing?

Murkyowski - have to admit I don't have a good bead on Alaska politics ... I'd expect a bit of the Maine attitude: fierce independence, leave us alone, don't drag us into your shit, etc. But really don't know.

All this 35 year old BS is to stop Trump. If they could prevent this appointment and win a seat or two we'll have no supreme court nominee during Trumps term. It's the resistance run by Soris, Obingo and company.

    Really? You don't say?
    I do say!

    Great picture!

Just passing along what I am hearing

They may not cave but the gals were the big force behind the GOP delay to give a fair hearing

But Collins in particular is pretty much onto the ruse now

And that hardball tactic itself is in response to McConnell not voting on Obama's nominee.

No they would have made shit up and smeared Garland

They didn't have to because they control the Senate. These are not the same thing at all

@Swaye is right except they need to nominate a Black woman. Leftist racism is always entertaining
Not saying they're the same method per se. The Democrats are willing to take a huge political gamble on this because 1) they feel like their constituents demand drastic measures; and 2) Because of the McConnell gamble (one of the biggest risk/reward payoffs ever), they feel like they have cover if it fails.

    Or something.

Which is why it's so fs. Like, what? If there were not an extreme response to the Kavanaugh appointment they're going to stay home and not vote? Or vote Republican? Or vote for the alt-candidate and fuck themselves yet again? The only win here for them is if they do, in fact, keep him off the court.

But like 99.8% of the people arguing about this, I don't have any deep understanding of his jurisprudence, and I'm less concerned about his academic writings which allegedly express that sitting Presidents can't be fucked with. Who cares? That's a theoretical question 99.9999% of the time. There are bigger issues. He's clearly technically qualified, and doesn't seem to have a hard-line judicial ideology or philosophy in the same sense or degree as a Scalia. Most of these guys tend to moderate once they get on the court, which is how it should be.

All the Dems had to do was put up a decent fight, let it happen, and likely do well in the next cycle in response to wide-spread anti-Trump sentiment. What is going to change that? There is no alternative. Show me the centrist Republican who these people are going to flock to for a substitute.

As it stands, this feeds the deep state crowd and the right could well find more new and previously untapped voting support.

Robert Bork was stopped at the hearing as I recall. It lit the fire but unless I am mistaken it was at least to do with the law not a high school party. Even at that the GOP has gone along with every Clinton and Obama nominee like good little sheep.

Anita Hill failed and this is looking bad. Maybe a lesson there.

Everyone freaked out over Roberts because BUSH but the dude saved Obamacare

    Crazy shit man

I thought it was bullshit for Repubs to withhold vote on Garland and it's bullshit now for the Dems to drag their feet on Cavanaugh. It sets such partisan precedent and it only going to get worse.

Although I tend to not want to hang anyone because of their academic writings - which are there to push intellectual boundaries - Bork had some weird views on privacy as I recall that made people all over the political spectrum nervous. That's a legitimate talking point I suppose.

This shit is not, nor is some goofy legal theory about sitting Presidents that will never see real game action. IDGAF about any of that.

IDoGAF about privacy, state's rights vs. federalism, Roe, campaign finance, etc. Those are ripe issues for discussion and in some cases even litmus tests.

High school is too far back. Not saying anything anyone did never matters. It can. But life-ruining and profession-limiting should require something more. I'm going to say it. I grew up in a small to medium-sized town in which the adults worked and played hard. Lots and lots of drinking and hard partying. Axe @RaceBannon and @dflea about the Harbor. So it's not surprising that the kids followed suit. We would party on dark logging roads in the middle of winter if need be. Didn't matter. And at a lot of those parties, and other 'get togethers', a lot of shit happened with a lot of people.

I know I wouldn't want all mine brought up.

The folks went on a long trip when I was in 9th grade and we had a blowout party. I accosted a girl on the stairs and she pushed me down them. A year later we started dating and were together until we were 21

Exactly as @RaceBannon and @creepycoug say it! I don't believe any of this Kavanaw shit for a hot minute, but even if it did happen, who gives a fuck? You know how many chicks saw my dick in college? Hint: A bunch. And not just the ones I fucked. Getting drunk and naked at some point during a party was sport - think Frank the Tank but skinny. You know how many girls get awkwardly groped on couches in high schools and then shove the guy off onto the floor? Hint: I hit the floor a lot in high school.

People need to get over themselves. Look, if it is ever PROVEN than Kavanagh molested someone, then hang the fucker. I hate rapists. But until then, Dems, at least find better liars because all the ones who have climbed out of the sewer so far look about as honest as a used car salesman in Detroit.
