As they grew into Super Bowl contenders, the Seahawks—especially the Legion of Boom defense—prided themselves on a ruthless internal competitiveness that lifted everyone and was the foundation of an NFL championship. But some former and current Seattle players say a growing rift developed, based largely on the special treatment some felt was afforded quarterback Russell Wilson. Now the team they believed was set up for a long run of success has been torn up and rebuilt around Wilson. Did it have to go down like this?
I read the article today, it was a lot of fluff and bullshit. Even though it kept saying "a dozen sources" you could tell it was a couple angry guys. Sherman and probably Bennett. The article made no effort to show the other side or illustrate how Sherman and Bennett were cancerous to the team. And mind you, I like and respect Sherman. I think when he gets older he will look back at the last couple years and shake his head at how self-centered and angry he was.
Eh, that's probably true. A lot of teams have highly paid QB's, then the salary cap issues, trading away draft picks, integrating a new QB with the playbook, etc.
I doubt more than 5 teams would be interested in trading for Drew Bree's, Matt Ryan, etc.

That's not what he's talking about though. He's not saying teams couldn't afford him, he's saying they wouldn't want him.
There's plenty of blame to be thrown around with respect to what happened with this team … I give credit to the guys that spoke on the record.
Whether people want to believe it or not, QBs do get treated a bit differently for a whole other set of reasons. If there was a rift in the team (and it was obvious that there was), then the Seahawks made the right call on putting the balance of the team on Wilson's shoulders.
There were some stupid things done like not giving Marshawn the ball in the Super Bowl that was FS and how much of it was ego vs outsmarting yourself vs whatever nobody will ever know.
The biggest mistake the Seahawks made through all of this was not nipping this in the bud earlier. They let last season ride out when it was painfully obvious that it was broken beyond repair. Instead of getting something for Sherman they got nothing for him. Instead of moving on from Earl this offseason when they didn't want to pay him was to move him versus have this bitterness linger and repeat the same mistakes from last year.
They'll be better off in the long run for pulling the plug on this run. Petey likely needs to retire. I don't think Schneider is an idiot but he's moving way too lock step with Petey at this point and it's setting the organization backwards.
Michael Bennett was a POS inside the Lockeroom. Sherman talked shit but Wilson respected him. When Bevil called the failed slant in the Super Bowl Bennett accused the coaching staff of being racists trying to elevate Wilson, despite the fact he’s black, over Lynch.
True story.
Wilson is to blame too. He acted like a little bitch over his contract.
What made the Hawks great was ultimately their undoing. Michael Bennett is a POS. Nuff said on that.

Bennett is absolutely a POS, but protecting Bevell and Wilson after That Slant was unforgivable.

Point being...if the slant isn’t thrown, there would be no article.
It wasn’t just the racist belief, it was the fact the players thought they were smarter than the coaching staff. Who would blame them after that play call? If Seattle hadn’t had a timeout in their back pocket I would understand. But that wasn’t the case. Given the moment, it was the dumbest playcall in NFL history. There’s no coming back from that.
In 2015, they started 2-4 with what was still a pretty good to great roster. The early schedule was tough, but you could tell it wasn't the same team, and they flat out blew the Cincinnati and Carolina games. Firing Bevell after 2014 would have sent a message and probably mitigated some of this, but they also just gradually became worse due to less talent, age, departures, and injuries.

No. Point being that lockeroom was a powder keg.
Petes rah rah shtick works for a young team with a chip on their shoulder. The Midget QB Hugh Millen said could never play QB. Lynch: Buffalos trash. Sherman and Bennett, overlooked and disrespected. Thomas’s swagger. Chancellors thunder. It was inevitable they’d win a Super Bowl but that success quickly cratered.
Pete. Schneider. The players. All had a hand in the early success. Then came Hubris. It’s been the script since man was created.
Wilson challenged the team after the first super bowl to get better. Bennett said “fuck you.” And so it went.
Pete can’t win with a veteran tenured roster. New blood. Younger. Unfamiliar. It’s the only way.
I haven’t given a shit about the Hawks since the days of Chuck Knox and the Kingdome. Sonics>>>>Hawks

Overplaying the race card is always special

WhoDat Nation, true?!
Offense is a lot better.
Not saying they will get back to the 2012-2014 level, but they aren't nearly as bad as some make them out to be.
