Uw would lose to us with Tom Brady at qb. Can't really hold it against them. They are cursed.Mosster47 said:
UW lost to ASU with best QB ever, that would spell the end for them as well.Pitchfork51 said:Let's talk about trajectory.
Oregon owns us for a decade.
Loses to us with herbert healthy.
Oregon = done. -
If you're going to hate on Petersen for not winning the big out of conference game... Shaw hasn't done much better for a 7 year resume.Mosster47 said:
Are we really just going to dismiss the guy with a way better resume? David Shaw is the best coach by far until someone even remotely comes close to catching him.ntxduck said:He's not overrated--he's the best coach in the conference by far. He just hasn't won any big games (albeit with limited opportunities).
Tequilla said:Stanford was a Top 10 team going into the game. Perception wise it was a very good win.
Winning a winner take all Apple Cup on the road matters.
Winning P12 title matters.
I get the point ... and not saying he has necessarily a marquee win yet (perhaps at SC leading to Sark’s bender) ... but saying he is overrated off a small sample size is FS
2011 - Lost to Notre Dame in the regular season, Lost to OSU in the Fiesta
2012 - Won the Rose against an 8-6 Wisconsin team
2013 - Lost to MSU in the Rose
2014 - Beat Maryland in the Foster Farms Bowl
2015 - Beat ranked Notre Dame in regular season and 12-2 Iowa in the Rose (lost to the only good teams they played)
2016 - Beat UNC in Sun Bowl
2017 - Lost to TCU in Alamo Bowl
Shaw's best non conference wins are Notre Dame a couple times, an 8-6 Wisconsin team, and Iowa... He's also had non conference losses to Northwestern and San Diego State. He gets credit for beating Oregon and USC while they were good, but that is a 7 year resume. Petersen didn't inherit Andrew Luck his first year and just hasn't had the opportunities for many marquee games.
BAMA and Penn State were better than Iowa, Wisconsin, and Notre Dame too HTH. -
The Stanford slide has been predicted since Luck left and yet they play in the conference title game every other year.ntxduck said:
I look at trajectory more than anything. It's how you could tell Helfrich was a shit coach early on, despite good results. Helf's first few seasons at Oregon were very comparable to Shaws. He just crashed the ferrari faster. The slide into 8-4, 7-5 annually is coming for Stanford.Mosster47 said:
WTactualF are you talking about? Five division titles, one last year over a super Doog Peterman squad and three conference titles in eight years and he is sliding?ntxduck said:
Lol. Shaw is FS. Took over a 10 win program and let's it slowly slide a little more each year. Cool.Mosster47 said:

I fucking DREAM Mario can get Oregon sliding like that. -
Yeah, it's a bit ridiculous we are talking about a guy that's about to step in front of a train in week one in year five over a guy that actually gets it done.RoadDawg55 said:

Pete inherited a 9 win team with a bunch of NFL talent so let's not pretend he took over after Owen. -
USC and Arizona miss 2/3 of UW, Stanford, Oregon. Utah plays all three.ntxduck said:Utah to win the p12 South at +450 is the bet to make. They get USC and Arizona (the only other 2 South teams worth a shit) at home so should have the h2h tiebreaker over both those

Speaks volumes more about the P12 North since Chip left than anything Shaw has done...RoadDawg55 said:

Youre not thus dumb so I should just accept your trolling for what it is, but...Did you see what UW had to trot out in terms of personnel in 2014? He inherited a team with a few great players surrounded by shit. Did you see the QB depth chart? How about the defensive backfield? We had Peters and a bunch of guys who couldn't have started for Eastern until SMFJ came around late in the season. The offensive line was offensive.Mosster47 said:

It wasn't owen, but it was ugly. Typical Sark roster with completely neglected position groups and a handful of good recruiting gets.
