i love carroll but yeah ppl forget vs texas in the '05 ncg he had bush on the sideline for 4th and 1 4q
you think norm chow (who built that O from 2002-2004) would have done that? he got big leagued out in favor of the fratboyz
brandon ting knocking down that INT versus catching it was disgraceful.
getting busted for steroids was stupid as well.
but, most very disgraceful, he never became doctor.
the 05 SC defense was quite flawed, a point which tended to be overshadowed by the juggernaut offense. That the Tings were on the team at all, much less on the field, was said by many SC faithful to be telling. Both were, as I recall, walk-ons.

You serious Clark? Are you confusing Darnell Bing with Brandon Ting?

Yeah, I'm serious. They weren't 5 stars but they were definitely 4 stars who got plenty of TBS ink. They weren't no name walk ons.

Didn't realize. Thought I remembered them being described as walk-ons.
In any event, it doesn't take much searching to find comments from back then about how under-staffed the SC D was having those guys play. Plenty of "Ting was just physically over-matched" type stuff, and then they cut-out early, supposedly to focus on school but one of them was busted for roids.

Went back and researched it, overplayed my hand a bit, they were both high 3 stars not 4 stars, recruited by most of the schools in the Pac. USC most certainly could have done better (see also, their entire 2019 class so far) but they wanted them. Both kids signed LOIs so they definitely weren't walk ons.
Point is they were very well known during the recruiting cycle, not anonymous by any stretch and not last minute Taylor Hindy signing day kind "where the hell did that come from" of kids either. They committed to USC in July, seven months before they signed.

I’ve narrowed it down.
