Just thought of doing this since it matters the most. Hell WSU could be Mt Rushmore with the right coach.

In the Pac-10/12 there have been some stellar candidates for the back side of the Mt. Rushmore for coaches:

    Paul Wulff
    Dave Kragthorpe
    Tom Holmoe
    Tyrone Willingham

In the "does less with moar" category, there was a guy at Florida named Charlie Pell who fits the mold. If you go through Florida's rosters over the years before Spurrier got there, you'd see a list of very familiar names from their careers in the NFL. Guysm used to line up to play there long before the handsome ol' ball coach and his one-line zingers showed up. And that mother fucker found a way to keep those teams really mediocre, and on top of all that, he was a world-class cheater to boot. Like, how big of a loser do you have to be to get caught cheating in the SEC in that era? And STILL lose.

Pell belongs on the backside of any Mt. Rushmore of college coaches. Wulff was a giant dufus, but he's a Kewg, so it's like "duh", and he was coaching Kewgs, so it's like, what did you expect?

Failing at Florida while cheating like crazy is the ultimate "you really suck at coaching" sign.

Carroll was/is an incredible big game coach.

He has never been a game who is going to beat all the teams he should.

Yep, he's had two major big game fuck ups.

He basically either loses big games close or kicks the ever loving shit out of the opposition.

So either his team was so talented his crappy decision making didn’t matter or he was throwing championships away by not giving the ball to Marshawn Lynch and college Reggie Bush with the game in the line.

brandon ting knocking down that INT versus catching it was disgraceful.

getting busted for steroids was stupid as well.

but, most very disgraceful, he never became doctor.

the 05 SC defense was quite flawed, a point which tended to be overshadowed by the juggernaut offense. That the Tings were on the team at all, much less on the field, was said by many SC faithful to be telling. Both were, as I recall, walk-ons.
