Yeah I don't really buy that as the reason his dad isn't all in on UW. He's probably just proud and wants his son to got to a nationally relevant program. Its not like we're the only school with a good pitch.

I don't know his personal situation. But for a school like UW, being a local kid, there's generally little upside to leaving.Neighbor2972 said:Yeah I don't really buy that as the reason his dad isn't all in on UW. He will get full minutes in year 1 here. UW will be top 2 pretty much no matter what in conference, meaning he'll be noticed. We have had many top picks the last few years, it's not like he's going to a forgotten program like Cal, or TCU or something.
If he leaves, goes to a blue blood like Duke or Kentucky. He won't stand out as much and the local community won't care, he'll be just another rent a player.
If he kills it at Duke, he'll be just another in a long line of players. If he kills it at UW, he'll make headlines.
That being said, he goes to Kentucky and hopefully doesn't flop like Terrance Jones. -
Yeah, if his goal is to be 1 and done, Kentucky is a much higher risk for him because there will be 3 or 4 guys on the team ranked higher than him2001400ex said:

Who really knows with McDaniels, but he could be just waiting to see who ends up at Kentucky for next year before deciding. They still have a lot influx. It's hard to say which players McDaniels might be fighting for playing time with because he can play so many positions, but there are going to be a lot of mouths to feed there next year.
According to 247, they have the #10, #11, #14, and #91 players signed and are the favorites to land the #30 player. McDaniels is rated #13. They are bringing in a grad transfer C from Bucknell that averaged 15 and 8 and are in the mix for Kerry Blackshear, another big that averaged 15 and 8 that will likely transfer from VT or remain in the draft. Always a chance Cal gets a top 2020 player like Isaiah Todd to reclassify too or others from last years team are pushed out.
Hagans, Montgomery, and Quickley were all top 20 players from the previous class that seem likely to return.
McDaniels has like a week to sign, right? Could he sign financial aid papers at two schools and still wait to see how things shake out at Kentucky if he wanted?

Latest from Corey Evans has UW picking up ground from last week..... Sounds like nobody really has a clue at this point.

The cool thing everyone wanted to do out of HS in Washington is "move to cali!!1". There is this weird stigma about getting the fuck out of Washington even though it's really not that bad here.

I'm just glad he's signing before May.Rapeculturedawg said:Nobody knows anything.

I don't ever seriously make fun of a kid for not knowing where to go b/c they are still in High school and this isn't even a choice of where you want to spend 4-5 years. It's a choice of leaving for around 6-8 months. He's going to get paid a lot of money regardless of where he goes and is likely a top 3 pick. UW has shown that regardless of how terrible your team is, you can still have a #1 pick. UW could easily make noise this year with JM. It's more about who's in his ear. Romar has been gone for a couple years, so that's about the dumbest thing anyone could say. That being said, if they want a high pay day now, UW isn't going to be your place. I'm sure he'll get his fair share of cash here, but nothing close to what other programs offer.CuntWaffle said:The cool thing everyone wanted to do out of HS in Washington is "move to cali!!1". I do think that talent is what's important, but there is a line where a person is such a primadona I wonder if they have any chance doing anything for the college team that one season other than be a pain in the ass. I don't know the kid so who knows, but some of the way kids(and their parents/coaches) handle recruiting has to be a signal for how screwed up their short career in college will be. it's not WDWHA, just an awareness that I don't expect him to be some sort of leader at UW if he can't even make a choice of a college through multiple signing periods when he knows he's staying one year.
***If he's really waiting on UK to have signings he has zero chance in the NBA. Jesus, he's going actually face competition the rest of his career. UK would prepare him for the NBA much faster than UW
