I'll say it: Auburn is a must-win

It's an all-in level up game. Win and we punch ourselves firmly into the top 10 tier (similar how Stanford 2016 announced our upgrade from 15-year-bag-of-horseshit-mediocrity to top tier Dreck-12 team). Lose and we continue to linger in that good-yet-not-elite phase that USC, Bama, and Pedo St highlighted. Get throttled and even winning out likely wouldn't be enough.

All that being said, Jake Browning sucks.

We'll know all we need to know about Browning, and the season, after week one.

No. You could still be really good and lose because you are traveling to an away game on the other side of the country.

Which is why it's completely retarded to schedule a neutral game in another teams backyard.

The win makes it worth it. And all summer long the kids will be working out harder than ever

We used to play a top tier school home and home back in the day meaning we'd be on the road for one of the games.

We used to have a set of balls. Our fans are pussies who want these shit schedules

We need to make the Pac 12 champ and auto bid so we can all stop playing Humboldt State and play some real games again. Then win the league, nothing else matters
Yeah a home and home would be fine. A one-time neutral game that is a home game for them is idiotic.

Tend to agree but if, say we? lose and, say, a particular player known for his diarrhea colored socks should have an unfortunate accident ... well then one could argue the season is saved.

Gonna give a pass here - but tantalizing close to a call for genocide.

It’s gonna be neat when the quooks say we embarrassed the conference again after they got blown out by tOSU, historically collapsed against a shit big 12 school, and got stomped by a mountain west school last year.

FS how many times do we have to hear the same narrative? This is an invite game. Akin to a bowel game. Of course they are going to pick a team that has a geographical relation to the game just like many of the bowel games do so there aren't empty stands. We get $$$ and lots of FREE PUB. Cohen did the right thing by accepting the invite.

If the Pac 12 teams don't like it then they should create some national marquee games out West that are similar. Oh right, our fans(and commissioner) suck and won't fill a stadium for a home game in Sept. let alone one that would be a travel "home" game. Maybe we will get an opening weekend "Las Vegas Invite" game once that stadium opens or one in LA for that stadium. That way the crowds will only be 50% composed of the opposing fans.

Meh. Playing Auburn in Atlanta > not playing Auburn at all. Just win this one. Level up. Then leverage the restored prominence to book future sexy home-and-homes.

A win against Auburn will help if/when we lose to a Jonathan Smith coached Oregon State team . He probably knows all our weaknesses on defense and Jake Browning's weaknesses too . so yea auburn =must win

I'm having nightmares about this. Babushka gets his Sark over Pete signature win because the college football gods are cruel.

    nah

2009 pete was already halfway out the door and that team wasn't anything special, losing 4 games and getting absolutely bitchslapped by oregon and stanford

i mean maybe if we have aaron fucking corpse starting at qb, maybe.
