Do u see Alabama, USC, Georgia or Clemson with these small LBs on the field? No.
Hell even UCLA, Georgia Tech and Tennessee won't put BBK on. If they're white at least get the ones built Ford tough like that white LB from Clemson last year or the Clay Matthews or the guy on the Carolina Panthers. I'm not saying they have to be as good but bigger is better.
UCLA, GT or UT, holy fucking christ jesus.
Here is a bit of fun factory. If Browning could throw the ball with any type of urgency or our kicking game had ability to make ANYTHING, the defense was not the issue for the team moving forward. Probably not the place to focus your aggression.
Hoffman and Clifford were white LBs who came in together leading up to the national title. But Chico Fraley put Clifford on the bench. Hoffman was big and mean and could play regardless of his color
I wasn’t old enough to really watch Hoffman, but considering he didn’t make the NFL, he’s a doog legend in my book who benefitted from playing behind a great DL.
Terrible troll, or terrible football observation

Not trolling. I just think if he was really that good he would have played in the NFL.
You need to go watch some games from that championship season. Hoffman was a fucking man, and he played great football. He was also a team leader and was a critical part of the chemistry that team had.
The fact that his skills and size didn't translate to an NFL career is irrelevant. Cort Dennison is a doog linebacker. Dave Hoffman is not.
We return 8/9 on defense, but all I can picture game one vs. Auburn is they circle, BBK, Beavers, Wellington, and whoever the 4th ilb is in the rotation and say "you aren't big/physical enough or have the experience yet to win this game" and run right at them the whole game ala what Stanford did to us down there last year.

Ha ha ha!. Using this logic?, Tui was a "doog legend" as well. Give me a fucking break. Ha ha ha!

By your standards Billy Joe, Beno Bryant, Mario Bailey, Travis Richardson, Jay Barry and an entire team must have sucked

The dude had so many fruit baskets in the bank, he just didn't need NFL money.

Torn ACL put Cliff on the bench. Fraley just "Wally Pipped" Clifford once he was there.
And for the record, Barry Bonds and Ben Johnson both think the amount of juice Clifford and Hoffman were consuming was excessive. That isn't a criticism, far from it.

Clifford went on to play baseball for the Tigers, IIRC.
And then, of course, opened the All American Bar and Grill on the Ave, but I doogress.
The way you crusty old cunts here overreact when someone younger questions a legend like Hoffman is pretty doogish. He didn't watch him, has seen probably 1000 mentions of him, and had a reason to wonder how good he really was. Seems legit to me.
But yeah Hoffman was almost as key to that defense as Empterman. It was rare for a RB to get past the LOS cleanly but every time one did I would take a deep breath because I knew most of the LBs and some of the DBs were already in the backfield and out of the play. Hoffman was the guy there cleaning things up all season in 91 and he did it with authority and force. He was amazing.

Finally some healing and unity.
And a split lip certainly sees no color.
Fucking Jaydon Mickens is going to have a better NFL career than Reggie Williams, Kasen Williams, Mario Bailey, and many others.
NFL is stupid.

He was a Bad Man in the middle, as well.
But, no NFL career, thus Doog Legend FS
Mario was 155 pounds, soaking wet, which tends to be career limiting in the NFL.
Mostly because I like seeing you guys piss yourselves trying to defend some shitty white linebacker. Hofferman or whatever.
