Schumer shutdown. Fighting for illegals over citizens is always special.

45 Republicans voted for the resolution.

    It's a McConnell shutdown.

Stop the bullshit, that doesn't matter. At the end of the day you have grown adults on both sides of the aisle doing Hondo's bidding because their constituents are too fucking lazy and dumb to get involved to obligate them to do something else.

And people wonder how we got a Trump presidency.
    Agree.

It's a shame the greatest dealmaker ever failed miserably on the first anniversary of his inauguration.

    He had one job.
The deal on immigration will happen. On Trump's terms, not theirs. Hth.
If his terms = no deal, then you are right.
He would be a shitty deal maker if he betrayed his base and gave these losers what they want. Helps Trump IMO. Helps Putin too.

To make a political deal, both sides have to get something.

The only thing the dotardcrats are going to get out of any deal is amnesty for some, maybe all of the 800K dreamers trespassers. Remaining illegals will be fast tracked out of the country. In exchange, they're going to be forced to accept all of these policies: Ending chain migration, ending the visa lottery program, funding for the Great Wall.

I thought we ended chain migration 150 years ago

My guess - just a guess - is he's holding out for terms. It's what negotiators do.

Besides, in the eyes of the public, this looks more like a Congress problem than an executive problem.

    Who runs Congress anyway?

The people will blame the head coach.

It's cute to blame the coordinators during the season, but when the season is over the head coach gets the heat.

Most Americans aren't as stupid as you are. They can deduce from the figures who is responsible for the shutdown. They shot themselves in the foot, like you shoot yourself in the foot every day you poast here. Now shutting the government down on behalf of illegal trespassers can be blamed on them. Pin the tail on the asses. This, combined with the forthcoming memo detailing that party's abuse of the intelligence agencies for their political agenda, is going to destroy them.
We have a reality tv star as our president. People are fucking stupid.

Didn't read past the first sentence.

What balls does it take to just not act

Shutting down the government requires not doing anything.

McConnell is the best at not doing anything. He has mastered the craft.

Most Trump voters hate the GOP as much as the dems if not more

    I agree with this.

I think Trump voters bought the narrative that he could actually change the toxic Congressional culture.

I am interested to see how it plays out.

I think it will probably end with some lame settlement and a thud, but it would be great if something useful happened instead. To Trump's credit, he is far more likely to shake up this mess than Hillary ever was.
