Zion would have waited as long as he needed to while the other two guys made their decisions. His other top choices were Cal and Vanderbilt. The point of taking a back up plan is to take him after the plan A guys commit elsewhere.
Maybe the better word would be that Zion is a hedge for some other guys. He can end up on DL or BUCK. We aren't hitting on all of McClain, Martin, Togiai, Tremblay, and Taimani. That's just unrealistic. Of course I wish we were in the position where Zion wouldn't even have to be in the picture, but that's just not the case.

This. Zion was one of the first kids we offered in this class that I remember. Obviously there was something the coaches loved about him. If he was offered this past week then I would understand more of the shitposting.
