They went 1-10 and 5-6 after he graduated and then Owens resigned and Don James transformed Husky Football
Six saved it. They were 1-9 the year before he started as a soph. His three years were fun but they couldn't beat SC or Stanford. Or Cal
Totally agree on both counts. Major tip of the cap to both.
Sonny Sixkiller re-energrized the fan base. A nationally recognized phenom, a blast to watch, a local hero. Kid's wanted to be Sonny. He made it cool to be a Husky again. He jump started another generation of Dawg fans. A class act who had a long term positive impact on Husky Football.
Don James elevated UW Football to legitimate national power status. He deserves mention amongst the greatest coaches of his time. It's a damn shame all that work was squandered with over two decades of neglect. It's also great to have Pete aboard and in charge. Dawgs are back baby.
I drink because of Sonny. What better way to show my gratitude?

RC? Sonny broke stereotypes. Most drunken NW Indians passed out along the waterfront or puked their guts out on Pike Street.
Sonny, on the other hand, woke up with a raging hangover, popped a couple Asprin, sent the sorority sister home, probably drank a couple hairs of the dog, then went and lit up Husky Stadium while he sweating out the prior evening's beer and spirits. Sonny's a God.

Definitely worth a read. Sixkiller vs. Plunkett was the biggest game of my young life.
