The shooter had already cleared the church, including walking up and down the aisles. nothing was stopped.Dude61 said:
It was a private citizen armed with an AR-15 that stopped the shooter in Texas. The sad thing is that they still trot out the same tired statement when it happened again Sunday. I guess if it doesn’t happen to your family friends or coworkers than it didn’t happen at all.
Citizens being armed with assault rifles will never stop tyranny in this day and age. If our government wanted to crack down on us, they could do it anytime.
AR 15s have two functions in life. To unload a bunch of rounds with some buddies in the woods. Or to mow down innocent Americans out living their life.
So considering that, who in their right mind can still support further legal purchase of these weapons? -
A 9 or a .308 or even a 12 gauge would have done the same job as it's my understanding the dude wasn't even armed at that point. Maybe I'm wrong about that.Dude61 said:

Tyranny requires an unarmed populace. The military has to be a willing accomplice for tyranny by force and that's not likely here at the moment. tyranny of government is though as we can see with the election rigging and tyranny of the left. I di notsee you calling for banning truck rental, gasolibne purchases or other previously used means of killing people. Why is that?YellowSnow said:
To your point about shooting guns in the woods, why not allow people to have access to an AR-15 at some private, well regulated shooting range, where the weapon must be locked up after use and not allowed off the premises? I mean for fuck's sake, what possible scenario/s exists where an individual needs more than a handgun or 12 gauge pump to protect their home from intruders? It's so remote that you have higher odds of being struck by lightning.salemcoog said:Eventually taking measures to protect dozens of Americans from being massacred should trump taking away the fun of unloading 30 rounds in 3 seconds at a target in the woods. The who prevention of tyranny argument is the most FS of them all. The issue of militias vs the federales was settled on the battlefield between 1861- 65 and the feds won. And that was in an era of extremely crude weapons technology where the feds didn't have much better firepower other than a few Henry Rifles and some Gatling Guns. -
Nothing was stopped because no one in the church was armed. The dirt bag was stopped and he could not continue if there were more victims or if he chose to drive to another location and continue. The only way to stop armed attackers is with equal or greater force. I'll let those opposing try and hug it out with the next shooter.UWhuskytskeet said:

It would have a better chance than what has been going on lately.

As I poonted out most anything will do the job when no one is armed to oppose the shooter! Why do you think they attack "gun free" zones? You don't see them attacking police stations do you?salemcoog said:

So considering that, who in their right mind can still support further legal purchase of these weapons?Owen said that the shooter had a large cache of ammunition on him at the time of the shooting but that he was unable to use it because members of the congregation quickly subdued him.
Nota bene: the shooter in this case stopped to reload a 12-gauge, semiautomatic shotgun, when the unarmed congregants were able to charge and immobilize him. -
He should have talked with @Sledog on how to plan a mass shooting.AZDuck said:

This. Just look at Europe, Germany in particular. No right to bear arms. What happened there? An extreme leftist government entered the host country like a parasite and totalitariasm set up shop. Merkel opened the gates and allowed millions of Islamic invaders from the third world to spill in. The unarmed civilians are powerless to defend themselves against this scourge. When they speak out on social media, they are silenced. Often the police will pay them a visit and raid their homes.Sledog said:

The right to bear arms is vital for the preservation of a free society. There are pussies here who want to take that right away. They are the same ones advocating socialism. These dotardcrats are generally ignorant of world history, have no appreciation for democracy and want to restrict free speech. The enemy is not abroad, they're right here at home.
